This Raspberry Pi 4 case was designed with the goal of housing an SSD SATA drive and a 30mm x 30mm x 7.6mm PWM fan. I like running SSDs on my Raspberry Pi(s) that I have critical services running on like my MQTT broker and OpenVPN server because they are way more reliable than MicroSD cards. 

There are two versions of the top, one with access slots and one without.

ADDITIONAL STUFF YOU WILL NEED:

SSD/NAND SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5" 7mm Internal Solid State Drive

USB 3.0 or 3.1 Type A to SSD/2.5 Inch SATA Hard Drive Adapter (I used a SABRENT branded one, and the Pi 4 can only support up to USB 3.0)

5V Fan 30mm 3 Pin PWM (I used the KKSB branded one on Amazon.com)

Scotch SP951-NA Bumpers and Door Stops, 1/2" Round, Clear (4) (stick to bottom of case)

M3 Tap & Plastic safe cutting Oil (I used Super Lube Oil with PTFE)

12 x M3 screws. (I used 8 dome head PC HD screws and 4 M3x6mm Pan head screws to mount the Pi)

Raspberry Pi 4 B SSD & 30mm Fan Case

This is my second case for the Orange Pi 5 Plus.

The vents on the side pieces are a bit ambitious and resulted in some curved overhangs. They wont print cleanly, but I have oriented the part to print upside down so any messiness will be located on the inside of the case and not visible after assembly.

06-Jan-2024 UPDATE: Shout out to bsmely for the idea, and not to be outdone, I figured out how to use the curves and lattice2 workbench in FreeCAD to create my own hex grid vented sides.

27-AUG-2023 UPDATE: Found an alternative 40mm fan (see picture) and added a new top vent with friction fit pegs.

3/16 Inch (4.77mm) Shelf Support Pegs.

Couldn't find the correct size shelf pegs at the local hardware store and the ones I need were going to take a week to get here.  So I bought a 3 foot piece of 3/16 inch round welding rod for about $4 to make my own.

Biggest hurdle was learning how to design consistent 3D printed mechanical threads that work together and are interchangeable with standard real metal fasteners. The clamp has 1/4"-20 and standard 3/8"-16 threaded tripod mounting holes on the back side away from the jaws. I also designed 1/4"-20 camera mount/holder for a Sony Play Station (PS3) Eye Camera. IoT USB Powered Motion Sensor

This Raspberry Pi case is for the new Pi 3 A+ which is Wi-Fi only and has just one USB port. This Pi is perfect for providing a remote web management interface to a 3D printer (I use Octoprint). This case is low profile and also features multiple sets of holes to allow Zip ties to be threaded through for easy mounting (I recommend putting the zip ties in before installing the Pi). Also, this case allows the Pi to be snapped in without the need for additional hardware. The opening for the GPIO pins will also accommodate a standard notched 40-pin ribbon cable connector.

Raspberry Pi 3 A+ (A Plus) Low Profile Case (Zip Tie Mountable)

I designed these mounts to zip tie to a standard 1" diameter PVC pipe or wooden dowel (a piece of old rake handle in my case). This DIY DTV antenna works better than the store bought flat flexible square antenna I was using in my attic before.

HDTV Antenna (OTA DTV)

UPDATE: Added version 2 stl file.  The 1st version failed South Carolina's May heat.  The metal ball popped out when I pulled on the base.  Version 2 has a much firmer fit.

I already had a ProClip Angled Dash Mount installed in my car from a few phones ago.  Instead of buying another one-off mount for my current phone I decided to try a Universal Magnetic Car Mount and stuck it to the ProClip base with the included double sided foam tape.  Well the tape didn't last a month in the hot weather here in the Southeastern US (and it was October).  So to fix it I got out the digital calipers designed something in Tinkercad and printed it on my new 3D printer.  What I came up with is a custom base for the steel ball of the magnetic mount to snap fit into with holes to mount the whole thing to the ProClip base on my dash.  This thing is working great so far.  I'm hopeful that the solid printed PETG will stand up to the heat this summer.  Fingers X'd.

A sturdy Croc rivet held together with a DIY paper clip "Cotter" pin. A bit of a pain to assemble but it will hold and last. I had one last for about 8 months, but then I sheared the head of on something in the garage. Probably shouldn't be working in the garage wearing Crocs, I know.

This case is low profile and the top is designed for mounting a Noctua 40mm fan, it also features multiple sets of holes on the bottom surface to allow Zip ties to be threaded through for easy mounting (I recommend putting the zip ties in before installing the Pi). Also, this case allows the Pi to be snapped in without the need for additional hardware. The opening for the GPIO pins will also accommodate a standard notched 40-pin ribbon cable connector. 

*Note: These parts are interchangeable with my previous Raspberry model 4B case, however the bottom on this design has significantly more ventilation slats.

Raspberry Pi 4 B Low Profile 40mm FAN Case (Zip Tie Mountable)

I needed a coat hook for my office cubicle and decided I wanted a magnetic one that I could stick to any metal cabinet. It's plenty strong enough for a light weight jacket, and will hold an adult leather jacket as long as you don't brush up against it. 

Required parts:
(5) 10x5mm N50 Super Strong Round Rare Earth Neodymium Magnets 
(5) Scotch/3M 1/2" (12,7mm) Bumpers

*Note: The bumpers are necessary to stop the hook from sliding down the metal surface of the cabinet once you put some weight on it.

Required Steps:
You have to insert a filament color change operation just before the internal magnet pocket tops are covered so that you can insert the magnets during printing.

Magnetic Tentacle Hook

Bought a new soldering station that uses Hakko T12 compatible soldering tips, the ones with the embedded temperature sensors. Then bought a set of 10 T12 tips to go with it. This is a stand to hold the tips and a cleaning sponge. I used a standard Scotch-Brite Heavy duty Scrub sponge (114mm x 68mm x 15mm) from my local grocery store (yellow side up).

T12 Soldering Iron Tip Stand & Sponge Tray

This is a headphones hanger/stand I designed in FreeCAD that attaches to a standard American folding table top that is 16.7mm thick. It is designed with the Sony Studio Monitor MDR-7506 headphones in mind, but obviously any set of headphones should hang on it fine.

V2 UPDATE: Made some minor improvements. The inside edge of the clamp area is now contoured to fit the rounded edge of table top. It's still a really snug fit, and may require some tapping with a block of wood or rubber mallet to get it all the way on. Also, the top edge of the clamp is now rounded over where it meets the table top.

Super Lube Bottle Cap

I bought a "PATROHOO" replacement strap for my Suunto Core watch in 2017 and again in 2019. I wore the first strap completely out but on the second one just the loops or watch band keepers have worn out. So I used FreeCAD to design some replacements and printed them in Black TPU. They appear to be way stronger than the original ones. The inside measurements are 25mm x 4mm at the outer edges and goes up to 6mm in the center.

Wire management clip for a standard U.S. Folding table with a 21/32" (16.67mm) tabletop. 
 
You could probably enlarge it or shrink it in your slicer to fit different size tabletops. I recommend you do the math to estimate the percentage you need first since this takes over an hour to print. You could also bury part of it under the print bed in the slicer if you don't want it as wide as mine. Post a make if you try either mod, cheers!

I modified the original Raspberry Pi Snug Case by Esquilo to accommodate the new 4 pin power over Ethernet header, and added snap in pegs where the original mounting holes were so the Pi can just snap in, no need for screws anymore. Since my Pi 3 B+ came with a heat sink for the Broadcom chip I also hollowed out a space under the case top to make it all fit together.

Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (B Plus) Modified Snug Case

My Bostitch impact wrench quit working or rather wouldn't stop working.  Whenever I attached the air hose it would immediately start spinning and wouldn't stop.  I disassembled the air valve mechanism and discovered that the valve seal deteriorated, some of the plastic coating had chipped away.  I had trouble finding a replacement part that didn't come with a bunch of other parts and decided to try and make my own.  

IT WORKED!  My Impact wrench is back to working like it should.  This design was a bit tricky since it's a re-enforced valve seal that uses an M8 washer embedded inside of it. 

IMPORTANT: After slicing the model, I uploaded my gcode file to https://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print and told it I wanted to change color at 3.2mm then downloaded my modified file.  Remember that the printer will unload the filament and you need to cut it on an angle and reload it.  Read the notes in the Print Settings section below for more information on how I prepared the washer to be embedded in the print.

The square hole in the top of the case (above the Pi's CPU) is sized to allow a heat sink to protrude through the case. It's best to stick the heat sink to the CPU after assembly, through the hole in the lid, since the tolerances are tight.

The Adafruit 15✖️15✖️15mm heat sink will work as well, but sticks up pretty high out of the case.
