Blank Insert Reinforced Lids
Design Concept Description:
These Lids are the reinforced version of Blank Insert Lids are compatible with Double Lip Corrugated Gridfinity Light Bins. Use these Lids with heavier items or with bigger bins.
They click in place and they are not that hard to remove when upgrading your gridfinity system. Feel free to use and modify them with your tool cutouts 😉
This system makes the gridfinity bins even more economical and reusable, this design breaks the solid bin in two parts: the empty bin and an insert(lid). In this way, whenever you change or upgrade any tool, you can now just reprint the custom insert lid and keep the body of the bin instead of throwing the whole module away. This saves you a ton of plastic and so the system becomes even more flexible in the future.
Tips & Benefits:
When the lid is snapped in place the whole solid bin is now backwards compatible (stackable) with all gridfinity bins. Because the lids are printed separately, you can now make them in different colors. If you print the lids facing down, you can add texture to the lid surface. Use a wooden ice-cream stick to pry open the lid, when you change them and start in the middle of the longest side.
Print Settings:
These models were printed on Prusa MK3 with Generic PLA. Same settings as the original Corrugated Gridfinity Light Bins. Go check it out for more details!
Stay tunned! More Gridfinity stuff is coming, especially the Reinforced Insert Lids 😛 That's it! Happy printing and looking forward to your feedback and remixes! Thanks!

Love this to go along with the corrugated bins. Very easy to import the STEP file, drop a tool outline on top and create a pocket, plus you don't waste filament infilling the bin below your tool, plus the added benefit of being able to reuse the bin if you don't need the original storage anymore.
Hi ImprovedByDesign, these look awesome but I'm having trouble creating the pockets for the lid inserts. Specifically, how to leave the offset shell/pocket of the item rather than just a hole. Can you provide any advice/tips/techniques or perhaps point me to a video showing the process? Thank you!
Did you ever work this out Dognutz?
Great design! What is the formula for defining the length of the inner reinforcing walls? As in for each height unit of gridfinity, how long are the walls? Thanks!
