2D - Gorillaz (Pre-Supported)
2-D was the very first member created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett for Gorillaz in 1998 as a representation of the "classic stupid pretty boy singer" stereotype that Hewlett found to be in many bands at the time. He was loosely based on Stuart 'Stu' Lowbridge, a longtime friend of both Damon and Jamie's who has worked as Damon's stage engineer and live music co-ordinator for all of his projects since the beginnings of Albarn's other band Blur, and guitarist Chris Gentry from English rock band MenswearW. Before Gorillaz, Hewlett originally had the idea of forming a cartoon band called "Sour Grapes", conceptualized in 1995, with Gentry and Graham Coxon of Blur. 2-D has been described by the band's former drummer and writer Cass Browne as being a "composite of Chris, Damon, and lots of other rock frontmen
