Looking for the cutest jumping spider STL that fully articulates and can be posed? 🕷😊 This is our Flexi Spooder, inspired by my own pet jumping spiders. Itemized files are listed as well as a separate zip folder if you want to save time and download everything all at once. Included in all our Commercial packages is a Media folder that you can use for marketing your prints as well as our authorized Seller Badge. Read on for details! 👇🏼

Design Details:

This spood was modeled after Bold and Regal Jumping Spiders with some abstract details to make them cartoonish and fun. They can be customized to look however you want in the slicer with some basic painting. These are also fun to hand paint for finer details!

Print Settings:

Some filaments like Silk PLA and PLA + can have a higher flow ratio which leads to tighter joints. You can select from our size options or scale it yourself. We don't rec scaling below 60% unless using a smaller (.2mm) nozzle. Use our Flow Calibration tool if you have issues with the joints fusing or they seem too loose or weak. Check out that post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/flexi-flow-tool-109432418

These files print in place with no supports needed. Tested on a variety of filaments including PLA, Matte PLA and Silk.

Our settings:

100% scale or more.

0.12 to 0.20mm Layer height

3 walls minimum, 4 recommended

15% infill Gyroid or similar. Avoid Grid infill.

Variable layer height if you have the time

Avoid fuzzy skin as it can weaken non fuzzy areas. At least test first.

Instead of a brim, use primitive discs if needed at the ends of legs or small parts, which can be easily cut off later

**Be aware that different types of filaments shrink and expand and that can affect the quality and flexibility of the print. Silk is known for expanding.

Some fun details about this model:

A 'Spinneret' spool and attachment clip holes have been added for mounting your spood and wearing as accessories, like you see me rocking the spood in my hair, or donning a ring (fun for Halloween!)🕷

We wanted this spider to be able to "spin" a silk thread, as Jumping Spiders do in real life, so the bottom hole in the abdomen is the "Spinneret spool." You can thread fishing line or a strong thread into this spool, turn it with a flat head screwdriver or a key, and it will thread the spider's abdomen. This makes for a fun way to display the spiders and have it hanging from it's "safety line." It also makes for cool videos to have the spiders dropping down. The hole in the head of the spider is for mounting and accessories. We've also added a novelty ring attachment in three sizes.

To this note, you may notice strange features like this in our designs. It's just us preparing for future iterations that may include fun accessories or other features (like adding motors or lights to make the models more interactive.) Cliff is an engineer at heart, so there's just no telling what he will dream up next! 😅

We put so much time, research, and refining into this design to get it just right and to make it printable for everyone, regardless of machine, filament type, and scale!

We hope you love it as much as we loved creating it! Reach out if you have any questions! 😊
