**The Drakon Extruder** 

Reliability, Performance, Power

The Drakon has 3:1 gear reduction, fully FDM 3D Printed to keep costs down while performing as well as an extruder at 2-3 times the cost. The Gear ratio means that you’re able to use smaller, lighter motors while keeping the same pushing force as a standard non-geared extruder. For direct drive systems this means a lighter carriage, with less inertial mass, improving print quality. For Bowden systems running a standard sized motor means the Drakon becomes a power house of an extruder with all the power you’ll ever need to get your filament where it needs to go. In both Direct Drive and Bowden configurations you get the reliability and piece of mind to know that it’s not your extruder that’s going to fail.

Resolution

By increasing the gearing to 3:1, this triples the resolution, which can mitigate filament being extruded in pulses at slow speeds, which can result in a wavy surface finish, to give you a smooth surface finish. _Note: This will not help other mechanical issues such as Z Wobble or Z Banding._

Materials

The Drakon has a fully supported filament path, which means it can print anything from flexibles, Carbonfills, metalfills and the hardest of filaments and beyond.

Universally easy to use

The Drakon strips down quickly with no need to remove the motor from it’s mounting, loosen the 3 bolts and just remove it from it’s mount. Remove the 8mm nut and bushing and that’s it, highly easy to maintain, should you need to take it apart for any reason. The Tensioner window allows you to easily see and set the tension quickly and precisely with no fuss. Easily mounted on a Direct Drive system as well as a Bowden.

Initially it only works with 1.75mm filament, but the 3mm will be available soon.

###Meet the AX-03 Railgun 3D Printer. 

The ethos of this 3D Printer is to keep costs down, but be as rigid as possible with smooth movement, along with having a light weight direct drive extruder. This is why it uses 2040 Extrusion for the main frame. MGN Linear rails for the motion and the [Drakon Geared Extruder](http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2172854) in direct drive configuration.

It is essentially a souped up Direct Drive Prusa i3 Style printer with none of the drawbacks of a standard i3. EG, only 1 Z motor is used with reciprocal belted motion to the 2nd lead screw to keep it all in sync.

Originally based on the Fusebox, this printer now has become a design in it's own right. Most major parts have been redesigned from the ground up or have been overhauled in some way.

The Ethos of the Fusebox was to keep parts pricing low, which at the beginning of this project, was the same aim, however, it is now to improve the FB2020 to a point where it's pretty much it's fool proof and highly reliable. I want it to the point where anyone with a set of Allen keys can put it together. I'm happy with the frame rigidity, yes, it's not as rigid as it could be, but I still want to try to keep costs down where possible, by using printed plastic parts this helps a little. I've added a list of upcoming changes below.

All files should be orientated correctly for printing. Any file marked Culain is an original file from Culain's design and no physical changes apart from mirroring and orientating correctly have been made.

####NOTE: 
All bolt, rod and hot end holes on the STLS for the Carriage and Carriers have a 0.4mm tolerance. If you need less or more, grab the SCAD files. There is a setting in there to change it.

#####Belt Tensioning
The best way I have found is to loosen off the motors so they are on the end of the bolts in the Y direction. Pull the belts as taught as you can manually then tighten the motors back up to bring the belts to full tension. I'm working on a better tensioning system currently.

FB2020 CoreXY

I couldn't find a decent 2 into 1 Y Splitter that uses PC4-M6 Couplers, so I knocked this up. 

All you need is 3 PC4-M6 Pneumatic Couplers and 50mm of Bowden Tube to go from the coupler to the hot end. 

#####Note: This does not work well with PLA. PETG and Copolymers work without issue
