GUFO
I am pleased to introduce Gufo. It is made up of thirteen main parts assembled with ten dowels. The assembly requires no screw or glue. You can assemble and disassemble it over and over.
Gufo is part of a series of 3D puzzles I've created using Puzlo, the building set that I have been developing for many years. More characters will come over the weeks.
Positioning of parts I have positioned the parts on two plates, the way I print them for maximum quality.
Plate 1 The first plate contains all the main parts. They are positioned to ensure smooth curves and avoid a stair-step effect. No supports are needed, not even for the horizontal holes, as the printer easily handles the bridges during the printing process.
Plate 2 The second plate contains the ten dowels. Precise clearances have been calculated so that the dowels should slide well into the holes, but without wobbling. However, these clearances cannot be guaranteed due to variations in filament types, printing speeds, and machine performances and must also be adjusted when scaling at larger or lower scales. Therefore, at any scale, it is advisable to run a test with a single dowel before printing the fifteen needed for assembly.
I have joined 3MF files as well as separate STL files.
Technical Specifications Model dimensions (mm at scale 1:1): W=54; L=180; H= 126 Estimated filament needed (including dowels): 170 g Number of pieces: 23 in total, including 13 main pieces + 10 dowels.
Eco-friendly Filament PHA WOOD from Bosk-Regen.
Printing settings Nozzle size: 0.4 Layer height: 0.2 mm Print speed: slow, especially for the parts on the second plate (dowels). Support needed: no Infill percentage: 15% - 20%
Post-Processing No post-processing required. All parts can be printed in the same color for a uniform look, or you can print some parts in different colors to personalize Gufo and make it uniquely yours.
Scalable The main parts are scalable, while the dowels require careful adjustment. For downscaling, I suggest 75%, adjusting the dimensions of the dowels by printing the Test Dowel first, as mentioned above and further described in the PNG image attached: 'Dowels adjustment'.
Assembly This puzzle is designed to be fun and thought-provoking without being too difficult. Consult the Assembly Instructions (PDF included) or you can try assembling Gufo without help for a challenge.
Looking to sell your printed models? Commercial licenses are available through the Green Makers plan, part of the Tero Verda initiative, that promotes sustainable making. This license allows you to sell Arkitektoy creations under the condition that only recycled or otherwise eco-responsible filaments are used.
