Alternate keys for use in Print-in-Place Twisty Puzzles.
The Print-in-Place Twisty Puzzle is solvable without using extreme force. However, some prints may result in tighter clearances and broken keys.
These alternate keys are tougher and should be used for tight prints or when puzzle solvers are itching to tear the puzzle open.
Options
- Stronger Key - This 2-part key looks just like the original, but the neck of the key is printed flat for better strength.
- Simpler Key - This 1-part key abandons the original design for a minimal easy print. This is a good option if you want to customize the key with a logo.
Printing
- No supports needed.
- If the key is too tight, print it at a slightly smaller scale. The default scale provides 0.2mm of clearance between the key and the puzzle's key hole.
- The keys must be printed without any warping or curling. If bed adhesion is a problem, “adhesion support” versions of each key design is available.
- Silk filaments are not recommended for the puzzle or key. They can work, but are typically more brittle.
Assembly
- The stronger 2-part key doesn't have to be glued together to work, but it is recommended to avoid losing pieces. Switch out the old key with a new one.
