Harry Potter Themed Bookmark Set (requires mesh fabric)

Every Harry Potter fan needs a Harry Potter themed bookmark or two…or three 😂 Please note: these bookmarks require mesh fabric to be inserted during the print. I recommend using polyester mesh fabric (often called mosquito mesh fabric - more details below👇🏼).

Items you will need: Polyester Mesh Fabric (Mosquito Netting)

A note about fabric: I have tried several different types of fabric. Polyester Mesh fabric (also called Mosquito Netting) is my favorite. Here is a link for where to find it on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4cb77Od

I have found that mesh made from PE (Polyethylene) tears very easily. Tulle prints well but is not very durable and also tears very easily. Nylon mesh will also work but it is thicker for the print head to print over and I think if you have never printed with fabric before you will feel more comfortable using Polyester Mesh instead.

How to print the bookmarks: I recommend slowing down the print (to 50% silent mode) initially to get a really clean first layer. I have inserted a pause print at layer 6 (layer height 0.6mm). When the printer pauses, lay a piece of mesh (that has been cut about an inch wider in diameter than the print) over the print. I like to secure the fabric down with blue painters tape (you can also use magnets but I prefer tape). Resume the print at a slower speed (50% silent mode) for a layer or two and then you can increase the speed back up to 100%. After the Harry Potter bookmark is done printing, you can cut the fabric (in between the squares of the bottom gold section) vertically to make it look more like tassels:)

Note: These bookmarks will each fit on the print bed of an Bambu A1 Mini but there is not as much room around the edges to secure the fabric with tape. Although it's a tighter fit it can still be done 💪 you will just have to trim the fabric a little smaller and take a little more time to tape and secure it in place:)

Another note: I tried several different “skin” colored filaments (light pinks, peachy pinks, off-whites, etc.). The one I have linked in the Amazon link for my favorite for Harry. (Some of the other ones I tried made his look more angry (red'ish), or ill (gray'ish) 😂)
