Skele-Spine - Articulated Snap-Flex Fidget (Tight Joints)

**Print-In-Place, No Supports, Articulating Fidget Toy**

Rising from the depths of the bone yard and the shadows of the catacombs, the Skele-Spine springs to life, ready to thrill and send shivers down your spine! This fidget fiend, shaped like a skull atop an articulated backbone, isn’t just a creepy curio—it’s the ultimate tactile treat for hands that crave a bone-bending twist. Perfect for any eerie ensemble, Skele-Spine yearns to rest on your desk or dangle from your fingertips, catching the wandering eyes of all who pass. While others may be haunted by the memories of goblins and witches, the Skele-Spine insists on making a spine-tingling statement all its own this Halloween season.

This articulated fidget toy integrates the Mimetics 3D "Snap-Flex" joint. This allows the Skele-Spine to both move smoothly, mimicking the fluid motion of living creatures, AND stabilize in a firm pose, providing a premium fidgeting experience. Each **SNAP** will resonate as a symphony of satisfaction to your ears, confirming your masterful manipulations.

This Skele-Spine is the fifth creation in a series of Snap-Flex models by Mimetics 3D, and it's available for free for a limited time.

**Tolerance:**
To accommodate different printer settings and filaments, I’m uploading 3 different tolerance levels for the Skele-Spine to ensure that you get the best fitting, most satisfying “SNAP” with each of your prints.

This is the **Loose** tolerance model.  For the other tolerances, please check out the other versions of the model to be uploaded soon.

**Print Settings:**
0.2mm Layer Height
3 Wall Loops
3 Top Shell Layers
No Supports, Print-In-Place at 100% scale.  Going any smaller may disable the Snap-Flex joint.

These tolerances are TIGHT and you'll likely have to snap each segment a few times before it's loose enough to snap/unsnap easily. I recommend you use regular PLA or PLA+. ABS might be even better, but I haven't tried it yet.

Silk PLA is a bit softer and may not click as nicely. I'd also be more concerned about silk PLA holding up to the wear and tear.
If you print this in resin, please let me know how it turns out. I imagine you would need a more flexible/less stiff resin for it to work appropriately.

Happy Halloween Articulating Spine

This print-in-place “Happy Halloween” spine is fun to print and feels really weird to hold and move.

The spine must be printed as oriented, with the spinous processes point up. Changing the orientation of the file will result in improper printing of the inner ball joint between adjacent vertebrae.
The transverse processes that stick out sideways do not need support. Therefore, you only need to support the base of the vertebral bodies and the top loop. 
You’ll have to plan your support well in order to adequately support the curved bottom surface of the vertebral body. A suggested technique using Cura is to raise the object of the build plate by 3mm, and then add tree supports underneath. Switch “Support distance priority” to “xy overrides z” and tighten up the “xy support distance” to 0.1mm. 
After printing there will be some small adhesions on the inside ball joint and in the facet joints. Just do some gentle spinal mobilization and they will release and move freely. Be sure to let your print fully cool first! If the plastic is still soft, the connector may break when you try to move it.
