LoriotL_4mm_13.stl
This is a 4mm:1ft scale model of a Great Western Railway Loriot L (G13) wagon for carrying road vehicles. Much like the same model in smaller scales, you will need to fit wheels and couplings, and you may choose to attach DC III brake handles to the v-hangers at one end. Take care fitting wheels! Please read the notes on the wagon in other scales. Wheels and DC III brake handles have been uploaded at separate models if you want them. P4 or OO/HO or EM wheels should be OK, ideally scale 2'9" (11mm) diameter 8-spoked, though slightly bigger might still fit, and crucially, 26mm axle length between pinpoints. Drill out for bigger, to to fit bearings if you know what you're doing. I have uploaded P4, HO and EM wheels for this model now. There is a beam across the ends between the axleguard regions, which I have left out of the smaller models. It has a split in the middle, intentionally, so that it doesn't make flexing the axleguards slightly to get wheels in and out any more risky. In this model I have left tiny joins across that split to kep the sides lined up. Saw them out carefully if you find you need to flex the axleguards (which can be a risky process) but I have also increased the depth of the groove in this version of the model, allowing the pinpoints to clear into the cones more easily, and you may not have to. The socket pinpoint distance has also been reduced a bit compared to an earlier version of the model, where I found it to be a bit loose. Photos show the first version of the model, in Tan MJP resin (slightly cheaper) fitted with OO/HO wheels and DC3 brake handles in Crystal MJP because they are too fine for Tan and clear. A white polystyrene rod has been added between the v-hangers, and a missing brake shoe has been replaced with bits of polystyrene.
