5-Inch Vise Soft Jaws | 1/4" Tubing
In pharmaceutical facilities and gas line installation, marring the surface of a tube isn't just an aesthetic issue—it’s a potential failure point for a seal or an inspection. These soft jaws are designed for a standard 5-inch bench vise, featuring dedicated channels for 1/4" OD tubing and integrated 10mm neodymium magnets that snap instantly and securely to steel vise faces. Whether you are cutting, deburring, or prepping stainless lines for a precision fit, these jaws provide a secure, non-slip grip without the aggressive "bite" of standard steel jaws. This design is a direct result of needing a better way to handle instrumentation-grade tubing in the field and the lab. I have included the original STEP file so you can edit to fit your application. Change the jaw width or widen the tubing channels to accommodate larger tubing. Assembly Instructions & Verified Print Settings (Tested in 95A TPU) To achieve the best balance of grip and durability, I recommend the following settings used for the prototype:
-
Material: 95A TPU (Ideal for a non-marring, high-friction grip on stainless or copper tubing).
-
Walls: 3 (Provides structural integrity while allowing the face to remain flexible).
-
Infill: 30% (Offers the necessary support for the tubing channel without making the jaws too rigid).
-
Nozzle: 0.6mm
-
Assembly Step: Set a Pause at Height in your slicer before the cavity is covered. Before resuming, drop three 10mm x 2 mm Neodymium Magnets into the pockets so they are permanently sealed inside.
