Flakoholic - Rope Thrower
Youtube Tutorial: https://youtu.be/uy8IHeFj8rw
WHICH ARMS SHOULD I PRINT? Look at the title of the files. They are very important. -There are two arms: Central & Side.
-You can choose to print either in a soft material (TPU) or hard (PLA, PETG, PA6, etc).
The difference is that the "soft" files have a slightly smaller inner diameter to properly fit the motor shaft.
-Then all files are separated between "glue" and no glue. The "glue" ones have a slightly smaller outside diameter to receive a 1.5mm thick rubber piece. If you use a different rubber thickness, like shrink tubing, it will affect the minimum or maximum diameter rope the flaker will allow.
Happy printing!

This is the big brother of these small rope throwers that were popular a couple of years back. It is useful for anyone who has to flake large volumes of thin rope. Ex. slackliners, climbers, linemen, sailors, etc. Able to flake rope at around 100m/30s.
Total cost: $50 CAD
The bill of materials is in the files. Fusion files also available.

awesome design! can you explore making this to handle up to 1/2 inch climbing rope? i am with a SAR team and we pack a lot of rope just for training. often climbing ropes but also throw bag ropes. in training, we have 10 to 20 bags to repack with ropes from 60 meters to 150 meters. we end up using them over water, too, so some water proofing would be good, too.
I have been exploring an XL version! The problem is that DC motors no longer cuts and everything has to step up a notch: batteries - ESC - BLDC motor - Speed control Then you got to make sure the rope doesn't slip and get burnt.
But it's in the works :D
