Upgrade your car's phone mount to hold a MagSafe puck!

I have included a photo of the Easy One Touch 3 to verify you have the correct model. If you have the Easy One Touch 5, you can print this model by ryanmachus on Thingiverse which inspired me. Click here to see which generation iOttie phone mount you have.

This design could use some work, I've included the Fusion file if anyone is up for refining it. The first print worked for me, so I decided not to redesign at this time.

Known Issues:

  • Screw locations are misaligned. Worked close enough for me to install by angling screws. I included a flatbed scanner image I used to create the sketch in Fusion, but maybe that technique or my execution of it is not good/accurate enough.
  • Overall width needs to be slightly wider to avoid exposing slightly sharp plastic edges of the base.
  • You could add a hole under the MagSafe puck to push it out from the back if you ever need to remove it.
  • I've included a shallow rectangular recess for an orientation magnet, but have not tested any yet.
  • Installing my MagSafe 1 puck required just a bit of force to achieve a friction fit, but may come loose with thermal expansion and/or PLA creep.
  • Puck sits slightly too deep such that the surrounding plastic rubs slightly on the phone case. You can add double-sided tape to raise the height and help the puck stay secure.
  • Designed for first party MagSafe 1 puck from Apple. The newer MagSafe 2 puck is very slightly smaller diameter and thinner. Using a MagSafe 2 puck will likely need double-sided tape or a redesign.
  • MagSafe 1 is 55.9x5.3mm, MagSafe 2 is 55.5x4.37mm.

I printed this in PLA with tree supports with the screw standoffs touching the build plate. Supports took some force to separate, I used a steel putty knife to pry between support and the part.
