Neşat Ertaş Lightbox
Neşat Ertaş
From the 1950s onwards, he recorded folk songs and bozlak melodies that he learned from his father, Muharrem Ertaş, as well as Central Anatolian folk songs and dance styles. From the 1960s onwards, he performed his own poems and used the pseudonym "Garip" (meaning "Strange" or "Unconventional"). From the 1970s onwards, his folk songs were interpreted by many artists of the time. In 2009, he was deemed worthy of inclusion in UNESCO's Living Human Treasures inventory.
