ELTVS Mk1 Trail

An open-top evolution of the ELTV platform, designed for trail-focused creative RC driving

ELTVS Mk1 Trail is an open-top derivative of the ELTV platform. It is not a replica of any real-world vehicle, but an original trail-oriented RC design developed to explore a different driving character and structural expression within the ELTV design philosophy.

While the ELTV Mk1 Strike focused on compact tactical form and controlled mass distribution, the ELTVS Mk1 Trail shifts its emphasis toward openness, trail usability, and expressive mechanical form.

Open-Top Form, Structural Expression

The ELTVS Mk1 Trail replaces the roof structure with a roll cage and tube doors, transforming the vehicle’s character from enclosed tactical unit to an open trail platform.

This change reduces upper body mass and visually exposes the structural layout, reinforcing the mechanical identity of the platform rather than hiding it behind body panels.

The proportions were carefully adjusted to maintain balance despite the reduced upper structure, ensuring the silhouette remains stable and composed during driving.

Trail-Oriented Exterior Evolution

Several key body components were redesigned to enhance trail performance and visual aggression:

Slim front cowl redesigned to improve terrain approach clearance and give the vehicle a sharper, more aggressive front expression

Modified front and rear bumpers to provide improved approach and departure angles

Spare tire mounting system including a dedicated bracket and belt-based retention system, adding functional realism and trail identity

These changes are not purely cosmetic. Each component was shaped to balance mechanical practicality, printability, and visual impact.

Driver Interaction Option

To reflect the open-top nature of the vehicle, the ELTVS Mk1 Trail includes an optional moving steering wheel module.

This feature is not mandatory for operation but offers an additional layer of mechanical realism and storytelling, especially for builders who value driver figures, cockpit detail, and cinematic presentation.

Designed for Printing and Assembly

Like all Elvis RC designs, ELTVS Mk1 Trail was developed with real builders in mind:

Parts are separated for stable and efficient printing

Geometry is optimized to minimize support requirements

Structural strength is achieved through shape and thickness, not unnecessary complexity

Bolt lengths are engraved on key parts to simplify assembly and reduce manual cross-checking

The goal is to keep the building process intuitive, even for complex structures.

Built for Real RC Trail Driving

The ELTVS Mk1 Trail is designed to be driven, not just displayed.

Supports both portal and straight axle configurations

Detail density is controlled to reduce damage risk during trail use

Weight distribution and proportions are tuned to maintain visual and mechanical balance rather than extreme performance targets

Instead of chasing maximum capability, the design prioritizes believable driving behavior and structural coherence.

Elvis RC Design Philosophy

The ELTVS Mk1 Trail follows the same core design principles as all Elvis RC projects:

Printing should remain accessible

Assembly should be logical and builder-friendly

Structural choices should be mechanically understandable

The design should maintain a unique identity

This model is meant to be built thoughtfully and enjoyed over time, not rushed or treated as a disposable kit.

A Different Direction, Same Philosophy

The ELTVS Mk1 Trail is not a replacement for the ELTV Mk1 Strike. It is an alternative direction within the same design language.

Where ELTV Strike represents controlled tactical form, ELTVS Trail represents openness, mechanical expression, and trail-oriented character.

It does not claim to be a perfect answer. It offers another interpretation of creative RC design within the ELTV platform.
