Honda Element Center Console Cooler Mount

Hi y'all! I just got my project off the printer bed and tested it out on my center floor console. (I don't know WTF to call that thing!)

Happy to share the .STL with the community. Print it in good health.

Read Me:

Honda Element Center Console Platform Cover (2008 Honda Element EX)

This part is designed for the floor console area between the two front seats of a 2008 Honda Element EX.

Important note: My OEM console does NOT have a cooler port. If your Element has a different console configuration, test fit before you install anything.

Printer size requirement (important)

This design was made to print on a 42 cm × 42 cm build plate. I’m printing on an Anycubic Kobra 2 Max.

That means you will need a large format 3D printer to print this as designed. If your printer is smaller, you’ll need to split the model and bond it (or remix it to fit your build volume).

What this part does

This is a partial cover that creates an open-top platform so you can mount a sliding tray (or similar) between the seats.

The design concept is to add two small cabinet sliders to the top ledges of the platform, then mount your cooler (or armrest) onto the sliding surface. The point of using sliders is simple:

  • You can slide the cooler/armrest forward or back
  • The emergency brake remains accessible
  • You still get a stable “bridge” between the seats
Cooler used (reference)

I designed this around an armrest-style cooler like the one shown in the photos:

Adhesive used (recommended)

This is not generic double-sided tape. I used a high-temp VHB-style foam tape:

  • Tape link: https://amzn.to/4pJi94R
  • Product: Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape, made of 3M VHB 5952 foam tape, high temperature resistant adhesive for indoor/outdoor use
Tape trimming tip (important)

This tape will need to be trimmed a little.

  • Stick one side of the tape to the console cover first
  • Do not peel the bottom liner yet
  • Trim neatly with an X-Acto before you expose the adhesive that touches the vehicle
Assembly note (two-piece bonding)

If you split this model (or print a two-piece version), it can be bonded.

  • I bonded the two sides with super glue
  • There is not much stress at the seam in normal use
  • In my build, it feels very stable
Strength note (real-world)

For anyone wondering about rigidity, my print is surprisingly solid.

  • I printed at 15% infill using the gyroid pattern
  • The platform is quite stable, and it feels strong enough that I could probably stand on it
Installation notes
  1. Test fit first with the seats in your normal driving position.
  2. Confirm you can still easily reach and operate the emergency brake.
  3. If you’re adding sliders, mount them to the top ledges so the sliding tray can move without rubbing.
  4. After installing your tray/cooler, do a final check:
    • Emergency brake full travel (up and down)
    • Seat movement
    • Nothing binds, blocks, or pinches

Always test emergency brake access and operation before driving.

A quick note from me

I’m not a professional 3D designer. I’m just a Honda Element owner who likes to tinker and solve problems as I build out my own setup. I’m genuinely grateful for this community, and I hope this file helps spark an idea or makes your install a little easier.

If you end up printing it, I’d love to see what you do with it. A photo of your finished print and setup would seriously make my day.

Enjoy!
