Description

Hey, these are Christmas tree ornaments that can be opened to hold a gift. If you want to print them with numbers, to make them an advent calendar, use the 24 Secrets File. I had to separate them both because of the file size on the upload

The mechanism is a new invention by me, inspired by the genius animations of Javad Taba.

There are 4 Different looks. You can see them in the PDF guide. Or in the pictures.

You need: 6 Connectors 1 Cap Pieces 1–6

Print Settings: Standard. No supports needed. If your prints are sagging, enable supports.

Troubleshooting: Only read this if you are having one of the following issues. Connectors pop out when closing: Print one of the longer connectors provided in the troubleshooting files. Cap dosnt fit: Make sure the Pieces are actually ordered clockwise. If thats the case print a bigger or smaller cap depending on whats the problem. Connectors are hard do push in: Print one of the smaller connectors in the troubleshooing folder.

I really like this models. I only wish they were a little more optimized regarding smaller gaps between the segments. You can see whats inside through the gaps while you hold the closed ornaments in your hands. I think the gaps originate from the bottom and probably the connectors need a little tweaking. I'm going to try to reduce their length just a little bit so that the segments are closer so each other in the bottom. Maybe that's something you want to look into yourself.

It depends a little on filament. I already optimized for that. You are right, scaling the connector smaller should fix that.
