TT120 British Railways MoW Rectank
A TT120 scale model of a Ministry of War design 'Rectank' for carrying military vehicles including tanks. The main part includes correct scale diameter 2'9" 8-spoked wheels interlocked in diamond frame bogies in turn interlocked to the underside of the body, meaning they turn and swivel but don't fall off - though they can be removed and put back on easily enough if you want to. There is also a sprue of brake handwheels and toolboxes and another of the high bolsters used on many of the wagons in peacetime use in the UK after WW1. To complete the model, shape and glue on fine wire to represent the trussing (and stick short bits of wire in the bolsters). See photos. The body includes rail jacks (to stabilise the deck while loading and unloading heavy vehicles) under the headstocks and frame cross-members. The ones under the headstocks may restrict the minimum track curvature unless you remove the NEM pockets from the bogies, but you can cut them back or take them off entirely. Fit and glue the truss rods to the queenposts, not to the jacks! One of the pictures shows it alongside the same model in 2mm:1ft, which has been painted. Rectank_MoW_TT120_06.stl uploaded 2025-06-09
