Watertight Sleeve for Infinite Containers 68 Series - ASR68-100
Dimensions: 67 x 67 x 100 mm (scalable)
This inner sleeve is designed to contain water and to turn any of the containers from the Infinite Containers 68 Series into a flower vase or other watertight vessel. This will allow you to print the outer container without worrying about layer adhesion and possible leakage. The sleeve can also be used alone, rather than as an insert, or scaled to fit any outer vessel.
This is an accessory for the modular stacking containers of the Infinite Containers 68 Series, where you will find the companion containers and additional accessories.
The sleeve was designed according to the research conducted by Jakub Kočí / Prusa Research Lab, as well as our own tests.
We tested: Two cylindrical models: an open (not scalable) cylinder with 2mm walls, and a closed (scalable) cylinder, with equal results. We are providing only the file for the scalable cylinder. You could also create a cylindrical primitive in your slicer and produce a watertight sleeve of any size using the settings described below.
The closed cylinder was printed in Vase Mode, as well as with settings that would result in an open cylinder with 2mm walls.
The models were tested with ABS and PLA, with a 0.4mm nozzle, in 0.2 and 0.15 mm layer height.
The tests were conducted on well-maintained and properly calibrated desktop 3D printers. We tested them on three different printers (different brands and models), with equal results.
Our tests showed: • ABS performs as well as PLA in the short term, but is more durable over time (more than 15 months at the time we are writing this, and still going). • The 0.15mm layer height performs much better than the 0.2mm. • The open model with 2mm thick walls and the closed model printed with settings that would produce a similar wall thickness performed equally well. • The sleeves printed in vase mode had a high failure rate, besides being flimsy, hard to handle when filled, and easy to break.
In our tests, the following settings gave a 100% success rate: Material: ABS or PLA Nozzle size: 0.4 mm Nozzle temperature: High to improve layer adhesion (e.i. if your material specs are 220º-240º, set it for 240º or even 245º) Layer height: 0.15mm Bottom layers: 6 Wall loops/line count: 5 Top Layers: 0 (zero) to print an open cylinder without a top.
To fit the containers form our Infinite Containers 68 Series
Keep the 67 mm X and Y dimensions unchanged and scale the Z dimension to your desired height.
The height should be 5mm shorter than the height of the container, or 25 mm shorter in case you are using an extension. Example: for a CS68-180 (a square container with an inner diameter of 68 mm and is 180 mm high + base), the sleeve height should be 175 mm (or 155 mm if used with an extension).

Components from the same series fit together, stack, and rotate on top of each other. The second set of digits indicates the height of the stacked container (excluding the 4mm nesting base).
• Scaling: Scale UP for customization. Scaling down may cause fitting issues.
