Articulating Axolotl - Articulating fidget Axolotl - Ludo 3D Printed Flexy Fidget Toy

The Articulating Axolotl This Fidget Axolotl is designed to be printed with no supports. All the joints articulate right off the build plate.

Printing This print requires a multi-color printer (unless you want to hand-paint the model). Use the included Easy Print File for the pre-colored model to make printing easier! For best results, add brim ears to the end of the tail.

Print at 0.2mm layer height. Use adaptive layers to get a smoother top surface.

Loving this one, I have an issue with the left front paw, the hole seems to be too snug and the material fuse together. We've been cutting it loose with knives but there must be a better way. Otherwise this is a flawless print.

Hi, very sorry about this. This issue has been fixed

I love this one! One thing I've noticed is that the back-most piece of the tail may need some slight adjustments. At least for me, I'm having a fair share of the ones I've printed have the tail lift away from the ears not holding to the build plate and have had a few break as I put the keychain hook onto the (very thin) piece of the tail. Trying some now with a slightly bigger ear brim and an adjusted hole for the keychain, I'll report back!

Thanks for the feedback, will take a look at the model and make adjustments!

I moved the y position of the hole piece to 39.27 and it seems to work well for me! I am not sure if I'm able to attach pictures to a thread in any way but the before and after is nice. The increased ear size did also really help me get a lot more success. I think people will love these things!!

Is there an STL of this file? I'm only downloading a 3mf file.

Hi, you can export the stl from the 3mf if needed but you should be able to open the 3mf with any slicer like Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer, etc.

Prusa Slicer says the file format is invalid

Colby G

Hi! That can definitely be frustrating. PrusaSlicer can sometimes mark my 3MF files as invalid because of the keychain and magnet holes in the models. I recommend opening it in Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer, which both load the file perfectly. If you have any trouble with that, let me know, I’m happy to help!

I'm also having issues with the tails and the limbs getting detached from the bed for some of the prints. I'm on an A1 using their textured PEI plate. The plate was washed and cleaned prior to printing these. I also raised the bed temperature from 65C to 70C - which is the upper limit for PLA and the plate I'm using.

Hi! I have brims painted on for a few of the more troublesome spots to help with adhesion, but they are small parts. I would suggest, if you've already tried washing your build plate and raising the temps, that you add some glue. A washable glue stick is usually good enough and just helps the pla stick to pei a bit better for small pieces. Just make sure you clean your plates with soap and water after a couple prints so the glue doesn't build up too much.

I added outer brims which made the small parts stick better but it was more work to remove them. I'll try your suggestion to use glue.

Hi there! I am having some issues with printing these. Most of the tail pieces are not sturdy enough to not be swept with the print and get loose, also the limbs fly off when removing from the build plate, do you have any suggestions as print settings or anything?

Hi, I'm sorry you're having issues. What printer and build plate are you using? From what you are describing, it sounds like a bed adhesion issue. I would suggest washing your build plate with dish soap and warm water and raising the plate temperature 5-10° but if there are other issues i'm happy to help figure out what else could be wrong
