Dragon Yarn Bowl / 3MF Included

Introducing the "Dragon Yarn Bowl", a stunning piece that's both a decoration and super handy for crafting!

Picture a beautifully detailed dragon curled up with its scales all around. In the middle, there's a bowl where you can put your yarn. And guess what? There are 2 holes around the dragon where you can keep your yarn tools handy!

It's not just a regular bowl – it's like having a magical guardian for your yarn. You can keep your yarn from getting tangled, and your tools are right there when you need them. Plus, it looks amazing on any table or shelf, adding a touch of fantasy to your space.

This model is very easy to 3d print, as it only needs a few supports on the swirl. I recommend using tree supports and be careful when removing them, using long nose pliers.

Includes: -STL Files for the Dragon Yarn Bowl to print in colors or in a single color, also a version with tool holes and one without. -Pre-configured 3MF Factory Files for Bambu Studio of the 4 versions.

Main picture was taken by "maisonlumiere_3d".

3D PRINTING SETTINGS:

-Some supports needed for the swirl, I recommend tree supports. Be careful when removing them.

-Between the layers 57 and 80 I recommend using 4 layers, to strengthen the swirl specially when using silk filaments.

-2 Walls, 8% rectilinear infill and 0.16-0.2mm layer height.

Turned out great! Will print again. Simplified the model to ~63% of the original triangle count. 14h13m, ~395g net. of filament

I've tried multiple different yarn bowl patterns and have struggled with the swirl overhang. Drives me crazy. I've wasted tons of filament (See photo of failed attempts. And that's not all of them). I finally got this dragon yarn bowl to work after manually adding more tree supports. I use Prusaslicer on an Ankermake printer. I watched a few Youtube videos on how to add extra supports to the swirl. Then went into Prusa and changed the support style to Organic (aka Tree); changed the Top Contact Z Distance to 0.2; and the Branch Diameter to 5. Some of the issues I had were that the tree supports would fall over halfway through building them, but before the reached the height where they would do any good. Increasing the diameter of them to 5 seemed to help. The supports will be hard to get off of the swirl. You'll need a clipper. I broke a swirl off one because I was in too much of a rush to break off the supports. I noticed a few thin spots on the bottom of the bowl around the edges. I'm not sure if that's something I did or if the designer can add a few more layers of filament to the design (Sorry, I'm new to 3D printing and still learning all these things). Love the finished product and I'm glad I found this design.
