Mechanical Flower

Closed the walls in on this design. 

With the right printer settings, I'm sure the over hang you see in my print would be eliminated. All in all, a fun design.

I out-of-the-box design I created. You could make a cute gift box. Stuff it with some tissue paper, fill it with Hershey kisses, and you've got yourself a centerpiece. I'm sure there's more!

I printed a mini version standing up with no supports, and it turned out nicely. I did turn the adhesion on, however.

This is my take on a snowman superhero. He's a little clumsy but gets the job done. Imagine if Udonna, the White Mystic Ranger, and Frosty had a child. This would be it.

Build your own Planetary Snowman

This Snowman has a planetary gear on the bottom so when you hold the center ball and spin the bottom ball his head rotates at 4 times the speed.  If you hold the center ball and spin the head, the bottom will rotate at 3 times slower. If you hold it by the head and spin the bottom or middle ball, it will spin freely, like a bearing. 

It is 133mm tall 100% and does not require supports. I used a .4mm nozzle at .2mm layer heights but a bigger nozzle or layers should work. If you scale it down it will make it more difficult to print but scaling it up will actually make it easier. I think it will scale up to at least 200% if not more without issue. 

Its hollow to save material, be sure not to add any details that extend to far into the inside as it could mess us the mechanics or create a part that should have supports.

Once you’re ready to print why not test the limits of your printer? Crank up the speed, change the extrusion rate, what other parameters can you play with?

No matter what you do, just hit print and walk away! However it turns out will be the perfect, if not ironic, testament to your love of 3D printing! It will also a great gag gift for the other 3D printing enthusiasts in your life.
