Wall Gears V2.1

this is version 2.1 of my wall gears project

it is a kinetic sculpture project consisting of several sizes of gear wheels

I created a custom backplate for the gear box to turn the dual motor gear box into a single motor unit

I recommend adding some sort of rubber feet to the back of the fame to reduce noise transfer into the wall, i just used generic 3/4" grommets

its a good idea to use some silicone grease on all the pivot points and in the gearbox

Added pre-shelled gears for use if you are unable to print in vase mode (mainly for non FDM printers)

also added smaller gear size

3D PRINTING SETTINGS
gears are printed in vase/ spiralized mode with standard bottom layer thickness of around 1.45mm

gearbox should be printed at 100% infill, if your printer is not well calibrated to will have to do some post-processing work to make the shafts fit. I just heated up the shafts/bushings with a torch and pushed them into the plastic for a perfect fit

the only thing that will need supports is the switch cover an its only a 10 minute print anyway

This is my wall original wall gears project,

-I have included 2 sizes of stands(hubs) of the gears one will make the gear almost flush with the wall the other will make it stand about 10mm away from the wall, as well as a 10mm spacer for more height.

-you can make it manual or powered, i have included a shaft to make it powered I used a gear mechanism pulled out of an older IDE CD-ROM drive to power mine. unfortunately it is unlikely you will be able to find the exact same mechanism I used, but I have included the shaft and gear box just encase.

-the gears must be printed in vase/spiralized mode with the default base thickness for curia which works out to around 1.45mm

sound bar design I did up to make use out of an old pair of pc speakers that no longer worked

I added a picture of the set of speakers i used but you could substitute your own speakers and amplifier board from amazon. there is even plenty of room for a battery inside

I did not include a back for the cabinet but you can do what i did and use a piece of acrylic or very easily design your own back!
