I decided to look for my favorite plane, the T-27.  Found the CAD, I believe from GrabCAD and worked on it for a while and never had a chance to finish... well, now I have time!

Still want to add the two exhaust pipes on the nose but in case it takes another pandemic, here is an iteration without it!!  Also may add a hole for a stand..

The picture of the painted model is a wooden model... Old Brazilian Air Force Academy color scheme.  Maybe I can paint mine and make it look as good at that...

T-27 Tucano Embraer 200 mm

1) This is a modular case that is easy to print as everything is printed down flat, no supports required.  You have to glue some parts together.  This is to be attached on a 2040 aluminum profile.



2) I used methylene chloride which is like Acetone to ABS.  But yes, it is very toxic, cancerous, and all that bad stuff. Be advised and use at your own risk.  Off course, super glue (cyanoacrylate) will also work.

3) I am using two drivers, one to control the fans (when any motor is activated, it turns the fan on. When motors are idle for more than one minute, the fans turn off).  And the second one to control the extruder fan and the lights (they go on when extruder temperature is above 50 C. They turn off when temperature is below 50 C)

These fans have 3 wires so you may not need the controller listed below, but I couldn't get it to work...

There features are all programmed in within Marlin firmware.



6) After you have all the parts printed, you can screw the MKS board bracket to the 2040 profile and install the electronics.  Then GLUE the two groups of parts together by following the pictures.  If you glued them all correctly, next you can add the second half to the 2040.  The front cover and the top+side are just snapped in place.  I have not glued those pieces as you it makes it easy for maintenance inside the case.

MKS Gen 1.4 Case w/ Fans

My good friend Dave came up with this quick draw spool holder where you do not need a rod! I love it!! He did not want to post it but told me I could share if I thought it was worthed. It is!! Holds many different types of spools.

The main underbody mechanics has not changed at all. The only modification was made to add 608 bearings to the each wheel.  (Some small reduction on the hex shaft as it was very hard to install into the spring and pawl...okay, two mods)

Where we did spend time was on the body... same lines but with added features, like, wider body, front and rear spoilers, front and rear lights, exhaust, windows, and rear side air scoops.

Dual Mode Windup Car - REMIX

My friend Jason wanted an adjustable system for his new AM8 project so this design came along.  I enjoyed and have also added to mine.

I saw many different ones already designed but wanted to not modify the original one too much.

AM8 Adjustable Bottom Corner Plate

Because the saddle was in the way, the light ended up too low on the seat post... with this bracket, the light is now back way up!

The seat is the Specialized Canopy. The distance between screws is about 61 mm.

The bracket post has the same diameter as the seat post (27.2 mm)

Specialized Seat Brake Light Bracket

Dave and I worked on a case for a mechanical keyboard (DZ60) where the wrist angle was incorporated and it had room to store the cable.

There is a depression on each of the four bottom corners for anti-skid feet.  Unfortunately they are at work right now so I am not sure what they are... update later. 

Also, as we use methylene chloride for glue which is really nice (not really glue as it melts PLA), this case is a two-piece that requires gluing.  There are 3 tabs to reinforce the joint.

Feel free to take it from here and come up with your own joining design!

DZ60 Keyboard Case

Motivated by this thing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2963110 to make a stronger block and with a specific shape, this one was born.

I print slow, normally at 25 mm/s... so this beast took 1d 9h.

No top or bottom layers and with 5% infill on the full honeycomb pattern.  Also 8 walls around.

The sanding belt is 457mm X 75mm (these are the ones I am using: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JZMMJPD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

You may want to use support on the pin if you like the inside dome to be clean, otherwise, no support is needed.  I didn't use support.

Titan Aero Anet A8 Carriage

I had bought this kit from Swarf Rat way back when and they only sent me the clamp system along with the drawings for the brackets...

I never got around to machine them and now decided to print it out. Turns out it wasn’t a good fit for this clamp. Go figure, since this clamp came from them!?

So I modified it a little and now it fits perfectly. In case you have the same clamp as I do, maybe this will work for you too.


UPDATE: Added a bottom v2 where the bottom of the thumb screw is recessed in to allow for more screw travel.

I cannot get Simplify3D to not print the top of the cone (so light can shine thru) so I had some prints where I just drilled the hole out and some I stopped the printing short to get the opening.

I started out whit Micro Center LED strip:

and remove the board from the casing.  I cut it down to keep only 1 LED and 1 resistor.

I used, for now, the provided velcro to attach this thing to the extruder.

For power, since this LED was rated 12V, I piggy back from the extruder fan wire which is also 12V and it is on all the time.

Now I can see the extrusion going on without having to manually flash some light!!!

UPDATE 30May17
I have removed the velcro and attached the wire to a rubber coated twistie tie.  This way I can move the light around to fine tune it.  Work good so far.

LED Bracket/Holder

Thanks to the quarantine, I started and finished a project that was sitting on the bench for years... If it set for that long, it means it is not a necessity. And it is not! But it is cool and handy.

DRO was bought online, nothing special. I used M3 bolds and nuts to hold the DRO to the brackets, an M5 that was already there for the threads dial. And 2 more M5 for the other end, which I had to drill and tap.  Be careful when drilling into cast iron, it is soft!

Filament Guide AM8

After installing the Titan Aero, I wanted to move the blower to the back of the carriage so it is easier to operate the Titan extruder.  This is a simple plate that uses already existing threaded holes on the original Anet A8 motor/extruder bracket.  Here I am using a Titan Aero carriage bracket made by MCSTAN ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2234921 ) which he also carried over those two existing attachments.

I first had the blower sideways but that didn't work because it was hitting the vertical acrylic walls.  Then I turned it 90 degrees and after printing so it would sit in the middle of the mount plate, I saw it wasn't in line with the nozzle. So moved it to the outside of one of the mount legs. In my picture you can see where I still have half of the clipped  leg. But the attached file, v3, has this leg already removed.

I also had to limit the maximum X travel so the fan would not hit the far acrylic wall, but the nozzle still covered the bed all the way.

Next is a nozzle for this setup...

Thanks for MCSTAN to do the harder part which was the carriage mount for the Titan Aero!!



FIRST UPDATE:
After printing and installing this duct ( https://www.thingiverse.com/make:335412 ) from MrBlom, I had to do some tweeks...  The blower needed to sit further away from the carriage and higher.  So here is v4!!
