6mm x 2mm magnet dispenser
This is a 6mm x 2mm magnet dispenser to make it easy to put magnets into a GridFinity baseplate or box.
I've found putting magnets into Gridfinity can be tricky. You have to scrape one of these little disks off in your fingers, then push it into a hole. Sometimes the glue squeezes out and now you have glue on your fingers. Sometimes the magnet flips over as you put it in. Now you need to handle this fiddly little magnet with gluey fingertips, and then scrape the next one off the stack...
Now you have an easy way to dispense these magnets one at a time!
Glue a magnet in the base piece. Then put the slider in the side slot from the long end of the main piece, and put your stack of magnets into the top cylinder. You'll know if you've got their polarity correct because they won't push all the way down otherwise. Then when you push the slide up to the point where its hole is aligned with the cylinder, a new magnet pops in. Simply push the slide forward again and now you have a magnet! You can then pick this up easily with a scalpel blade, and put it into the hole on the GridFinity model. Pull the scalpel back sideways and the magnet will stay in place.
Pull the slider back and at the right point another magnet will click into place. Easy!
New features in version 1.2:
- Separated out the top and bottom, with pegs and holes.
- Removable magnet switcher with N/S so you can switch from the 'baseplate' orientation to the 'bin' orientation, in the one unit.
- The slider now has a cutaway on both sides of the magnet to make it easier to remove, while still making sure that new magnets only slide into the hole.
