This is a tool to make it easier to install heat set inserts into printed parts with a soldering iron. It uses a long elastic band(or multiple smaller ones tied together) to retract the soldering iron arm.

The idea came from a Video that Vector 3DP did, https://www.youtube.com/c/Vector3DP I just didn't have the spare parts laying around he did, so I just wanted one I could 3D Print fully.

I used his arm with some modification and his Soldering Iron Grip(scaled up to 125%) and glued on. Adjust for your soldering iron.

Print in PLA/PetG/ABS...Whatever you have. Perimeters - 2 or more Infill - 5% or more

-Print the Tool Base laying down, so layer lines will be vertical when it's standing up to cut down on friction. No Supports. If you need to install Heatset Inserts into a larger print, just stretch the Z Axis as high as you need/can.

-Print the Tool Arm vertically with supports under the arm.

-Print the Soldering Iron Grip Vertically with no supports.

You can clamp the base down with a small clamp, or use sticktack or tape to hold it down. Printed on a CR10S Pro.

Thank you Vector3DP https://www.youtube.com/c/Vector3DP for the idea and models.
