I have two prosthetic legs, and the main issue with riding an electric bicycle is to keep both prosthetic feet solidly on the pedals throughout a revolution.
The other problems to solve are, how to make it easy to step into the "foot holder" and have it grip me enough. But still make it easy for me to extract myself quickly in case I have to stop quickly.
I cant twist my ancle to use the classic twist lock and I also want to be able to use the shoes that I wear at the time, when riding the bike.
I limit myself to cargo bikes with three wheels, so this helps with the balance while stopping.
These challenges led to this "Dutch Clog" design, that are maybe not the most sexy look, but they work very well with my prosthetic setup.
For future improvement:
- Better quality photos for showing usage
- Working on parameterizing the Fusion360 model, to make it easier to adapt it to different foot sizes.
- A way to fasten it to the pedal arm, to have them not scrape against the ground while moving. Im experimenting with a piece of elastic, where they just drop off the arm when you start pedalling.
