This is a bracket I designed that will slide onto the top rail of my Ender 3 Pro. Earlier I had printed a spool holder that uses 608zz ball bearings because I wanted smooth spool rolling. However, I also wanted keep the spool on top of the machine since I have little bench space.

The spool holder I used can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2384414

You will also need 4 608zz ball bearings.

  1. Print 4 pieces of the spool holder (thingiverse link above) and assemble.

  2. Print 2 Top Rail Spool Brackets. Mostly standard Cura settings, but I did change wall thickness to 1.2mm for added strength.

  3. Remove plastic end cap and 2 screws from the top gantry rail that is opposite the z-axis screw.

  4. Slide the brackets onto the top rail. They should go on easily with a little effort.

  5. Reinstall the top rail screws.

  6. To keep the spool holder from sliding I used double-sided tape.

Note: This bracket is made for spools that are approximately 60mm wide.
