Thanks for this, Prints amazing on Ender v3 KE Using the standard 0.2mm profile in Orca slicer 2.1.1
No rafts needed, I was worried about the heart so at layer 100, I slowed the print down to 75%
Printed the pins with 100% infill and its clipped together no problems at all. Using Tri-colour PLA+ Silk from Sunlu.
Absolutely love it thanks
Very nice. I changed length of the connectors to 9.5mm (109%) and now i get a super tight fit with almost no play in any of the gears. Printed at 100% and there was about 1mm gap. Meaured my printed pieces and they're within .05mm, so it wasn't my machine.
Not sure how to upload make photo to this comment...Do you plan on putting this up on Printables.com ?
scaled to 80% and initially added a little X-Y hole compensation, the connectors were too loose so reprinted those separately at 80% with no compensation and she's holding together well, albeit still a bit too lose but a lovely flower-Dilophosaurus-sea-creature to play with!
The heart does not print properly for me on a P1S. I've tried multiple PLA types and cleaned the bed. I used a raft which keeps it from moving off the bed but it still doesn't print right on the bottom angles only. It looks like where the internal infill begins it causes the outer wall to get really warped. Tried 4 times now, same result.
these came out wonderfully. Had to print with Heart -3 and clips/connectors +1 and they work great. thank you for including troubleshooting additional sizes! I've printed these for an Easter surprise for my niece and nephews, they are going to love these. I'm grateful to have found you and subscribed to your collections. I have also sent many others to you who have been looking for a working Gearball STL.
First print of Gear ball. I printed each piece individually so the rainbow pattern is random. See my print of gear ball 2.0 that was printed all at once. Each piece has same pattern in gear ball 2.0
Hi I have downloaded and printed your gear ball but I am having trouble getting it to work when I put it together the pieces just keep slipping can you help
I have only been printing for two weeks now; I made this tonight with my x1c and I love it! It's a little big for my hands though, so I am clumsy with it. Does this scale well if I reduce it to 75%? I am definitely going to be printing more of this and others from your catalog. V2.0 is tomorrow's project!
Hi, If I could use your shorts from youtube to advertise and your product photos, how can I make it?
Im looking to turn a commercial member, but i want to know how do that.
I love this model. What settings are you all using for the connectors? Mine seem to be a bit too fragile. PLA? PETG? Infill? For me, the small "arms" are what get stressed on insertion and then are easily removed/break.
i have a ton of issue with the connectors snapping. any advise? i print them @ 100% infill because they were snapping so easy before. but i still snap about half of what is needed. i also switched to PLA CF and still having issues.
This is a great design but I am struggling with the connectors. I have printed it using a resin printer so the alignment of cogs is spot on and it runs smoothly. What isn't working is the length of the connectors, the gap between the arms is too short imho meaning one side or the other falls back out. The gap should be around 6 to 7 mm i.e. the depth of the two rims plus a bit of tolerance. Any chance you could provide a longer connector?
Alternatively, it would be great if there is a version that allows for each cog to be held in place with a bolt i.e. add threads to the heart holes and provide a hole through each cog with a recess for the bolt head to recess into.
No matter what i make it out of or how much scaling i do the connectors either break or let loose. Would there be any kind of a metal clip that could be purchased to work? I cant sell something thats going to fall apart.
tHIS IS WHAT i DID FOR THE PINS WHEN YOU MAKE SMALLER SCALE. i DID BALL AT 65% AND PINS 63%. i TOOK 2 PINS AND MERGED THEM TOGETHER AND PRINT THEM VERTICAL OUT OF TPU. tHINK FOR ANY SIZE PINS AND SO THEY DON'T BREAK I JUST STARTED PRINTING THEM ALL IN TPU IN THIS NEW STYLE. I DID PUT RELIEFES IN SO THEY ASSEMBLE BETTER. CHECK THEM OUT.
hello, i just becam a member to your account on thangs. I am having some issues with printing the ball/cube models. the clips that hold the peices together ar breaking. Do you have any ideas on how to fix? i am using a bambu a1 mini printer with pla filament. thanks
This is awesome. Two comments for future iterations. 1. Are you able to add indexing marks to a tooth of each piece for easier assembly? 2. Is there a way to reinforce the connectors? I am using PLA + and 1 out of every 3 connectors broke when assembling. I had to print a ton of extra connectors.
Thanks.
The connectors should be printed in PETG. Not only will they not run a risk of snapping but also they are more resistant to wearing down. Should probably be mentioned by the creator.
Hey, i would have made on but I posted this while on vacation. I just added a new Picture. Maybe that will show you how the connectors are supposed to connect the heart and the Gears.
If that doesn't help wait for a Video in the next days.

Probably done is Bambo studio
Wow you are fast.
What filament is this? It’s Amazing

Can I have the file for this? Is the file for sale?

I am having this same issue, maybe ill add more walls in the slicer? Im stuck, have all the pcs except the heart
I added an xtra wall. slowed my speed down 50% and turned my cooling fans up and it worked!
same here. really frustrating.
Here’s assembly video https://youtube.com/shorts/gqJ1DMyoybc?feature=share
Posted the model on my TikTok and it’s up to 250k views. Hopefully it will get you a ton of likes and downloads. Thanks for the awesome model!

this cane out so cool ty 4 sharing
This is so awesome!
Ty!
Awesome model! Easy to print and put together!
this is awesome! what filament and color did you use?
made from PLA which was way too britlle for the clamps. Redid them (and only them) with nylon (PA) and it worked our nicely
Hey, PLA worked fine for me 3 times. Maybe try drying yours.
No supports on this one either? Seems like it's really gunna test my bed adhesion.
Use a brim if you have trouble with that ;)
Is there a file for these?
See the pin I printed in TPU. This ball is 65% I had issues with the pla pins breaking at this size. The tpu seems ok. It's a hard tpu.
Does anyone have a file that the connector pieces are a different size? Mine are loose and end up losing the ball shape after a spin
We are finding the connectors are breaking all the time. What are e doing wrong with the connectors?
what was the infill percentage on this?
Cool design, no docs for assembly, but the model works pretty well. if the model was free it would be 10/10 but I can't recommend people to buy it.

Could you do a jr version?
Anyone else having problems with printing the heart?

Using the standard profile with Ultimaker Cura, but the pieces' walls were too thin. What settings do you recommend?

I've created a stand for the amazing Gear Ball if anyone is interested! https://3dstadiumsllc.etsy.com/listing/1742779132/gear-ball-display-stand-stl-3d-print

Yea, try playing around with the infill or wall thickness.
try pet-g and use a 50% gyroid infil, give it a go.
I need help! I printed this and got it together but it is super stiff. Is there something I can do to make it glide better?
I had an idea, would it be possible to make a stand which fits into the bottom of the ball, with teeth that match the bottom so it slides on neatly?
recommended in fill?
Is there a better material than PLA to print the connectors. Mine always break pushing them in
I cannot get the connectors to fit in the holes on the heart or the gears. What do i need to change?
Where is the small one??
2.0 is smaller! https://than.gs/m/1090047

For some reason when i downloaded this file it gave me a different stl. It downloaded the spinball file.

Hey, try using more walls when you printing pins. They should be solid plastic. Of that doesn't help. Try scaling them a little to make them thinner.
See the pin I printed in TPU. This ball is 65% I had issues with the pla pins breaking at this size. The tpu seems ok. It's a hard tpu.
I am trying to lengthen the connectors just slightly but Bambu Studio won't let me just lengthen without widening it. Any suggestions?
Make sure the "Uniform Scale" option is unchecked when changing the size. This allows you to change each of the three dimensions independently
Exactly :D
what pla for the black/red ball please
Polymaker dual colour blue and red
can it be scaled down ?
See my post. I was able to make at 65% but needed to print the pins in a hard tpu. Im trying something else now ill post back my results
Hmm, maybe the thing is that you also scale the tolerances down. I may make a smaller version in the future. If you try, let me know how it went.
Can't get this to download. What am I doing wrong?
uhm... no... how... yes???
Beautiful!

Yes, i will make the indicator in a 2.0. I never gas issues with the connectors. Did you print them solid?
I have no idea how to actually put this together. You don't have a step by step by any chance? It's all printed beautifully.
