Modern Low-Poly Christus

Background

This Modern Low-Poly Christus was created as a modern work of art for any home. I decided to add some flare to the normal Christus by adding some color to the 3D print. I have never seen a Christus with color before, so I thought that adding color would create a new perspective on the classic Christus.

This statue is presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Christus is completely in white, but my take of the Christus has Him wearing red robes, as foretold in Isaiah 63: 1-3 (King James Version):

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

Christ atoned for our sins, having “trodden the winepress." He is our Savior and Redeemer. Because of His Atonement, we are saved and can become greater. Because of His Atonement, we can be with our families for eternity. Because of Him, all is possible. Jesus is the Christ.

Printing and Tips

To make the Christus more 3D printable, I made the statue low-poly with no supports. This 3D print can be printed as a single color or dual-color (or more), providing a new perspective on the classic Christus. I normally print this statue as 4 inches (small), 6 inches (medium), and 8 inches (large) since my 3D printer can only print up to 8 inches. This allows for a variety of sizes for different applications. For people that travel a lot but want one, 4 inches is a great option. For a decoration, 6 or 8 inches provides a larger option.

For printing speeds, I usually print slower on the outer layer so that a nicer surface finish is made. For the smaller prints of dual-color, there are spots that only have a small amount of printing for a color. Thus, if your printer is not well-calibrated, then blobbing can be experienced and will need to be post-processed to look better.

Currently, I only have the full model uploaded. I hope to cut the model soon so that it can be easily imported to any program that doesn't allow painting (i.e. Cura). From the photos, one should be able to paint the model to how I've painted it. Feel free to paint it how you want though!

Finally, if you want to sell this model, please contact me. I have worked hard on this model for months, so I would like to arrange something if selling is the plan. If you plan to give the Christus as a gift, feel free to do so without hesitation! I want everyone to be able to know about Christ and what He has done for us.

Thank you for your interest and Happy Printing!
