Awesome model! The pens fit perfectly and so do the magnets. Used Bambu Lab Oxide Green Metallic PLA, Bambu Lab Grass Green Matte PLA, Polymaker PolyTerra Marble Brick PLA, and Prusament Mystic Brown PLA!

I used Cicla's antibacterial filament for the green - while it's a very bright green, these pens effectively clean themselves as they're passed from hand to hand.

Printed with Hatchbox white pla and Eryone olive green pla. Opted to paint the spots on later tos ave filament. I didn’t have any red clay-like filament so I made my own white geometric planter that I scaled to fit the insert in blender. Tips: Hit the stem holes with a heat gun on low for maybe 10 secs each to make it easier to get the pens down in them. Bore out the caps with a small rasp/file or exactly knife for a better fit. I’ve still got a few to fine tune. Once you get magnets in the base, give each installed magnet a pair and mark the outward face with a sharpie so you don’t install it wrong into the stem. Use a flat surface on a pair of pliers to persuade the magnets into the holes easier. If you dial in your printer this all fits together very well! I printed mine across an A1, an A1 Mini and a K1 Max and everything is fairly snug and lines up well. Great design! Kudos Forge! Thanks for sharing.

Hey Brandon! Do you have your planter file on Thangs? I looked but couldn’t find it. I would love to use it!

Very smooth print. The only trouble I had were the first pens I ordered didn’t fit well. But the second set of pen fills were perfect and everything snapped into place instantly.

Does anyone have trouble putting the pens in? I shouldn't have to be drilling them out like I am.

Yes, I am having the same issue! What size of drill did you end up using - or did you figure out how to fix that?

tyree g
griffinty98

its a 1/8 drill bit. Seems the magnets dont quite fit either.

Print without any fuss or scaling on the Creality K2 Plus. Pens just took a little bit of force with a needle nose pliers and fit in nice and snug.

Love this print-I used harbor frieght 12 piece files #4614 that came in handy for pen inserts and to file down any rough edges. Also used a white paint marker for dots on plant and spray painted tips lightly with a brown and pink spray cans, and placed in a 4-inch clay pot with saucer.

Doing this in resin. I printed the big pieces, which worked automatically, before realizing that the stems don’t translate in Chitu. They say they’re too small and ask if you want to resize them. If you click yes and let it resize to what Chitu “thinks” is correct, the magnet hole sizes are off and each stem is a different scale. If you say no, the model simply doesn’t appear on the build plate. Any help or ideas would be appreciated?

They do appear, just extremely small. If you scale it up to 30,000% you should see it. I'm having the same problem :(

Hi ! Would it be possible to add your Bambu 3mf files in each project ?

Colby G
ForgeCore

Yes! Working through adding them now. It has been added for this project and will be added for all future projects as well

Jacob B

Just downloaded the 3mf files and I think they are the stls in 3mf form with no coloring. Did they by chance get mixed up?

Colby G
ForgeCore

okay so i think i figured it out, and its a Thangs issue. Click "download all" from the original files and open the 3mf from that folder instead of clicking 3mf in the dropdown. The original 3mf works, and for some reason when you click the 3mf on the dropdown, it messes it up

Bruno F

I'm having the same problem with the 3mf

Colby G
ForgeCore

I just downloaded The 3mf file on a different computer and it open as a normal 3mf with the coloring. There is only one 3mf file, are you sure thats the one you opened?

Jacob B
barnes.jake.c

I am sure. I am using bambu labs and it is having the problem continually.

Hi, I cant seem to find the piece that holds it all together at the bottom Aloe vera base PLA as it is not in the single files option, only in the 3mf file. I have managed to get it but would be great if we could have it as its own file separated too please.
Other than that, my leaf and pots turned out great and waiting on ink refills.

This has since been fixed! Thank you for letting me know

Are the supports for the pen inserts completely necessary? I am having a hard time removing them and pushing the pen in. Is the best option just to drill the holes? Thank you.

Colby G
ForgeCore

No supports necessary.

Does anyone have truble putting magnets and pins in the stems/base? nothing seems to fit right from the print

Colby G
ForgeCore

I put the magnet on a table and then push the whole stem down onto it.

Can you fix scaling issue. Something is wonky about every plant print i've tried to print except SOP

Colby G
ForgeCore

Yes! it has been fixed. Redownload the files and they will be scaled correctly

The polytera muted one is not available. What is the substitute filament that can be used?

Cassie W

I'm using this..... HP3DF Matte Army Green Pla Filament 1.75mm 3D Printer consumables,100% Pure PLA,Toughness Enhanced Pla,Fit Most FDM Printer,Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.02 mm,1KG/2.2Lbs Spool https://a.co/d/6m64qKL

I haven't tried it myself, but there is another muted green provided by polymaker that may be a good substitute. I found it on Amazon searching for matte muted green. Let me know how it turns out!
