Retro Macintosh-Inspired MTG Deck Box

Bring a touch of retro tech charm to your Magic: The Gathering game nights with this MTG Deck Box, inspired by the classic design of Macintosh computers. Perfect for card enthusiasts who value both aesthetics and practicality, this deck box offers secure storage while showcasing your deck’s character.

Background & Inspiration: This design draws inspiration from the sleek simplicity of vintage Macintosh computers. Combining my passion for retro tech with Magic: The Gathering, I created a deck box that merges function and nostalgia. The "screen" feature lets your first card art shine through, turning your deck into a unique display piece.

Unique Features:

Fits Up to 100 Double-Sleeved Cards: Whether you’re a casual player or a seasoned competitor, this box has the capacity to hold your deck safely and securely. Magnetically Secured Lid: Six 6x3mm magnets keep the lid firmly in place, ensuring your cards stay protected during transport and gameplay. Retro Aesthetic: Styled to evoke the design of vintage Macintosh computers, this deck box is an eye-catching tribute to the past. Interactive Display: The screen cutout lets you showcase the art of the first card in your deck, adding a personal touch and making your deck box uniquely yours. Printing Instructions: To print and assemble this design successfully, follow these recommendations:

Printer Settings: Use a 0.4mm nozzle with a layer height of 0.2mm for detailed resolution. Material: PLA or PETG is ideal for the main structure; choose a filament colour that complements the retro aesthetic, such as off-white or beige for an authentic Macintosh look. Supports: Enable supports for the lid alignment edges and magnet slots.

Supports are required for the screen and front overhang. I use organic tree overhangs for the best results.

Infill: 20 percent infill is recommended to balance durability and material efficiency. Magnet Slots: Ensure the slots for the 6x3mm magnets are printed cleanly; test-fit the magnets before assembly. Assembly Instructions:

Prepare the Magnets: Gather six 6x3mm magnets for the lid. Ensure they’re oriented correctly to maintain magnetic alignment. Insert the Magnets: Press-fit or glue the magnets into the designated slots on both the lid and the main body. Custom Display: Place your favourite card as the "screen" by inserting it behind the front cut-out. The fit ensures it stays in place while showcasing the art. Additional Notes: This design emphasizes both functionality and style. For an authentic retro feel, consider painting or detailing the deck box after printing. The magnets provide a secure yet easily accessible lid, making it practical for frequent use.
