I love creating “pretty things,” and I’ve gotten requests to make a fairy bookend for a while… so here it is.

I kept this one simple and clean so it actually looks good on a shelf without feeling overdone, while still being a solid, functional bookend.

The wings are detachable and slot right into the back, and the book prints separately so you can easily do multi-color without turning it into a 20-hour headache.

I also included two versions of the body:

One with the head attached One with the head separate (in case the chin gives you issues with supports)

The wings are designed to be a perfect fit, but if your printer runs a little tight, scale them to 99% and they’ll slide in easier.

Also worth noting—at 100% scale, this model is pretty small. If you size it up, the detail really starts to pop and the whole piece feels more premium.

Print Notes (Real World Results)

For my personal print, I ran this at 0.12 layer height to get that extra crisp detail. It looks great, but it definitely adds time.

If you’re printing a lot of these, I’d only go that fine if you’re aiming for a higher-end finish.

Full Multi-Color Timing comparison at 0.20 layer height (same model): Snapmaker: ~4.5 hours, ~88g filament Bambu Lab A1 Combo: ~18 hours, 273g filament

Recommended Setup (Best Balance for Selling)

If you're planning to sell these (commercial members), this is the move:

Print the body in one color Print the book separately in another color Print the wings with just the top layer in black (like shown)

You still get a really clean look, but without the massive time cost of full multicolor.

Print Settings Layer Height: 0.20 for faster production 0.12 for high-detail display pieces Walls: 3 Infill: 5% Gyroid Supports: Tree supports

Final Thoughts

This is one of those models that’s super flexible depending on how you want to run it. You can go quick and efficient for selling, or slow it down and really push the detail.

Either way, it’s a clean piece that looks great on a shelf and actually functions well too.

Happy Printing! -Christian, @CraftyKid3D
