Moving Moiré Pattern Coaster
This coaster creates a moving moiré pattern through the rotation of a center disc. Even when it's not being used to protect tables from condensation, the coaster can provide a mesmerizing visual and tactile experience!
- No supports or brim needed.
- This design is optimized for 0.4mm line widths. Other line widths will work, but may result in small gaps in the thinner sections of the design.
- For best results, swap out the filament color when printing the frame so that the line pattern stands out from the background. For my prints, I added a second filament swap back to the original color once past the line pattern.
- Bright colors on a dark background will reveal the pattern more clearly than dark colors on a light background.
Assembly After printing both parts, gently flex the insert until it fits under the lip of the frame on one side. Continue pushing the insert under the frame as you work around the outer edge.
Important! The insert should be added with the smooth bottom facing down. This will give you a smoother rotation and better fit.
Options Deep Frame - The deep frame takes more time to print than the regular frame, but it will catch more condensation.
