Illuminate your space with a fusion of classical elegance and modern digital distortion. The David Lamp is a striking lighting fixture that reimagines Michelangelo’s masterpiece through a fluid, topographical lens, turning a timeless bust into a functional work of glowing art.

Design & Concept: I designed this lamp to explore how light interacts with complex, organic surfaces. The silhouette of David is transformed by deep horizontal ripples that flow across the facial features, creating a "wavering" effect that feels alive when illuminated. This project is more than just a sculpture; it is a dedicated light housing. The top of the bust is designed with a specific opening to accommodate a lamp socket, allowing the light to spill out from the crown of the head. This creates a dramatic upwards glow while highlighting the intricate "wave" textures of the face and hair in high relief.

Key Features: Sculptural Lighting: A functional lamp that serves as a high-end art piece whether the light is on or off. Fluid "Wavering" Texture: Features a captivating topographical ripple effect that adds a modern, digital twist to the classical bust. Atmospheric Shadow Play: The horizontal ridges are specifically engineered to cast soft, rhythmic shadows when lit from within or above. Unique Focal Point: An ideal statement piece for creative studios, modern living rooms, or any space that celebrates the intersection of art and technology.

Hardware Required: E27 or E26 Lamp Socket: Designed to house a standard screw-in lamp socket. LED Bulb: I strictly recommend using a low-heat LED bulb (like the Edison style shown) to protect the 3D printed material from heat deformation.

Printing Recommendations: Material: Matte White PLA is highly recommended to mimic the appearance of carved marble while providing a clean surface for light diffusion. Layer Height: 0.16mm is ideal to capture the smoothness of the horizontal ripples and ensure a high-quality finish. Infill: 10–15% Gyroid. Walls: 3–4 Walls to ensure the structure is sturdy and light-tight where needed.
