Painting Tips This model was hand painted using simple acrylic paints and dry-brushing techniques.
Suggested Process
- Prime the entire model with dark brown primer.
- Base coat the fox with a warm orange-brown acrylic paint.
- Paint the chest, muzzle, tail tip, and inner ears with a light cream color.
- Dry brush lighter orange and cream tones over raised areas to highlight details.
- Paint the nose and eyes black.
- Seal with a matte clear coat for protection.
Creating the Warm Glowing Orb Effect
- Thin yellow or warm ivory acrylic paint with water until it becomes semi-transparent (approximately 1 part paint to 2–3 parts water).
- Apply several light coats
- Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
- This creates a soft diffused glow while still allowing plenty of light to pass through the print.
Lighting
- Use battery-powered fairy lights, LED tea lights, or other low-heat LED light sources.
- Warm white LEDs produce the best results.
- Do not use incandescent bulbs or high-heat light sources.
Material Tip If you prefer not to paint the model, try printing in translucent white or translucent PETG and illuminate it with colored LEDs for a different effect.
