This design is a submission to the “3D Printing Industry Awards Trophy Design Contest” being hosted by Thangs. 3D Printing Industry (3DPI) launched the 3D Printing Industry Awards in 2016 to celebrate excellence in additive manufacturing and showcase the applications, enterprises, systems, and individuals driving the industry forward.

This model is designed to showcase the technical capabilities of additive manufacturing, specifically SLS printing.

The star-like form on top is a three-dimensional representation or “shadow” of a four-dimensional shape called the 120-cell. The pedestal is a conformal gyroid triply periodic minimal surface. Download also includes a reoriented gyroid version, and a version with Schwarz D TPMS for the pedestal.
