The Original The first Keyrambit was purely decorative — a simple ring-and-blade shape you could spin between your fingers. It looked good on a keychain, but that was the extent of its function. The Problem Looking at the early prototypes side by side, the core issue was clear: the design solved for shape, not purpose. It was a toy with no lasting reason to carry it.

The Glow-Up Process (in Shapr3D) For this challenge, I rebuilt the Keyrambit around a new core idea: turn it into something people actually use, not just fidget with.

  • Sketched and engraved the Nalomaker Studio wordmark directly onto the body, projected onto the curved surface for a clean, integrated look.

  • Modeled a dedicated internal cavity via Boolean subtraction, precisely sized to house an NFC chip inside the body — invisible once assembled, but fully functional.

  • Kept the original spinning bearing mechanic intact, so the toy function isn’t lost — it’s added to, not replaced.

  • Refined edges with chamfers for a smoother finish and safer grip.

The Result The NFC chip can be programmed to store a link— such as a personal website, phone number, or social profile. Tap the keychain against any NFC-enabled phone, and it instantly opens that link. What started as a fidget toy is now a physical, tap-to-share digital business card — something people reach for because it’s genuinely useful, not just because it spins.

Printed & Tested Printed and assembled with the NFC chip embedded inside, then tested on an actual keychain in daily use — linking directly to the Nalomaker Studio profile page
