MforS 3D-printed Handbag & Clutch - V2/03 - Scales Pattern
SCALES HANDBAG & CLUTCH
The third release in a 12-pattern bag series. This design is 100% 3D printed, eliminating the need for mesh fabric, fabric printing techniques, or external hardware. The design of the bag also allows it to stand upright by itself.
Each pattern is available in two different styles:
Handbag: Features a rounded, comfort-formed handle printed as a single piece for an ergonomic grip. Clutch Bag: Features an integrated, mechanically folding lid that prints entirely in one piece and bends flexibly over the top of the bag.
MODULAR DESIGN The core mechanical assembly is standardized across the entire 12-pattern series. This allows you to mix and match front panels, back panels, bases, and fasteners from the Scales design with any other pattern in the collection.
MULTI-COLOR WITHOUT AN AMS A multi-material printer, AMS, or tool changer is not required to achieve a multi-colored look. The top surfaces of the geometric patterns are designed to sit at different heights. To print in multiple colors, insert a pause command at the right layer height in the slicer and swap the filament.
PRINT RECOMMENDATIONS & TOLERANCES
Nozzle Setup: The files are optimized specifically for printing with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. Print Speed: Lowering the overall print speed is highly recommended due to the high amount of small detail throughout the design. Specifically, slowing down the first two layers will significantly improve print quality and minimize the risk of a print failure. Scaling: Resizing the files is highly discouraged. Altering the original dimensions will compromise the tight mechanical tolerances required for the interlocking parts, print-in-place lid hinges, and 3D-printed fasteners. Material Selection: Testing and verification were conducted entirely using PLA, which yielded good structural results. However, a hybrid material configuration is also possible for a softer feel: printing the front and back panels in TPU, while keeping the bag base and fasteners in rigid PLA. In this setup, the rigid PLA fasteners mechanically compress and tighten the flexible TPU panels securely onto the rigid PLA base.
ASSEMBLY Assembly is completely mechanical and straightforward. The body is divided into flat-printing sections held together by 24 printed fasteners. No glue or screws required.
Print the front and back panels for the chosen version (Handbag or Clutch). Print the bag base. Print 24 copies of the fastener to lock the panels together.
BONUS FILES (BETA) An entirely 3D-printed carabiner and a 3D-printed shoulder strap are included in the package as experimental bonus files. These components are fully functional and have been print-tested, but are considered beta versions provided for user experimentation.
