Five-Headed Dragon (Hydra) - Easy Multicolor FDM RPG Minis (No supports)
This Weekβs Drop: Five-Headed Dragon πππππ
I finally found the courage to tackle a five-headed dragon! Five heads. Five personalities. And somehow... I actually pulled it off.
This Drop Includes: 7 versions To make sure everyone can print this one exactly how they want him I included six multicolor 3MF versions and a single color STL.
- 4 Colors: Simplified version where there's two white heads and no distinct color for the belly.
- 4 Colors Alt Version: Alternate four-color color scheme with a monochromatic dragon body.
- 4 Colors + Mix: Creating two extra colors by using the new color mixing feature in Bambu Studio. The belly is a mix of terracotta and white (making beige), and the left bottom head is a mix of black and white (making grey).
- 5 Colors: Simplified version where there's no distinct color for the belly.
- 5 Colors + Mix β¨: Creating one extra color by using the new color mixing feature in Bambu Studio. The belly is a mix of terracotta and white (making beige). This is the I printed in the video and in the photos above. The result pleasantly surprised me!
- 6 Colors: Full version with five unique heads plus a dedicated beige belly color.
- Single-color STL file: for resin or single-extruder FDM
β οΈ Warning! I really wanted the blue dragon to have a pronounced chin. Because of that I ended up breaking one of my most important rules. There's one tiny support tower under the chin. I recommend using normal supports (manual).
Key Features
- Easy to print
- Support-optimized design β οΈ
- Optimized for multicolor FDM
- Matte PLA recommended to hide layer lines
Note: Use the feature tree to change the colors. Not the paint tool!
Size & Print Settings: 100% Scale (40mm miniature): 121x110x111 mm
- Recommended nozzle: 0.4mm (standard)
- Recommended layer height: 0.12 mm
75% Scale (28/32mm miniature): 91x82x83 mm
- Recommended nozzle: 0.2mm
- Recommended layer height: β€ 0.08 mm
Note: I design my minis at 40mm scale because itβs the sweet spot for clean results on a 0.4mm nozzle while still fitting a standard 1-inch grid. If you know what youβre doing and have a smaller nozzle, you can absolutely scale smaller.
Much love π«° Sander
