Smart Self-Watering Mechanism I have engineered this planter with 3 precision-made holes at the base of the inner pot. To activate the self-watering feature, simply thread small pieces of cotton rope or wicks through these holes into the water basin below. I personally use cotton ropes because they provide the best capillary action; whenever the soil starts to dry out, the cotton wicks draw water upward from the basin to keep your plant perfectly hydrated. If you don't have cotton rope, you can easily use: Woolen threads or yarn pieces. Cotton wicks (used for oil lamps/diyas). Strips of cotton bandage.
