Why I designed this

Smart bulbs are great — until someone turns the light switch off. Whether it's a family member who doesn't know the drill, a flatmate on autopilot, or a guest who just wants to turn the light off "the normal way," a single switch flick takes your smart lighting offline completely.

I wanted a solution that:

• Physically stops the switch being turned off
• Looks intentional and tidy, not like a hack
• Gives the wireless smart remote an actual place to live

This cover does all three.

How it works

The cover fits directly over a standard UK single-gang rocker switch using the existing screw holes — no wiring, no drilling, nothing permanent. Once fitted, the rocker switch is enclosed and can no longer be pressed into the off position. The switch stays locked ON, your smart bulbs stay powered.

The front face has a flat mounting area where you can attach your wireless smart remote (Hue Dimmer, Lutron Pico, Aqara Mini, etc.) with a self-adhesive pad. To anyone walking past, it looks like a normal light switch. Your smart home runs silently underneath.

Fits forwards or backwards — you choose The bracket frame is designed to be installed in either orientation depending on your switch depth and how comfortable you are around switch plates. Facing backwards, it screws straight over the existing plate with no need to touch the wiring at all — the simplest possible install. Facing forwards, it sits much closer to the wall for a lower-profile, neater finish; for this you briefly remove the switch plate so the bracket can wrap behind the wires using the built-in wire slot in the frame. Both orientations are fully functional — it's just a question of how clean you want the result to look.

Installation (takes 5 minutes)

Forward-facing — no wiring contact needed:

1. Switch off the circuit at your breaker box
2. Unscrew the existing switch plate screws
3. Place the bracket forward-facing over the switch, align screw holes
4. Reinsert the screws through the cover
5. Restore power — switch is now locked ON
6. Stick your smart remote to the front with a Command strip

Forward-facing — neater, lower-profile finish:

1. Switch off the circuit at your breaker box
2. Fully remove the switch plate from the wall to expose the wires
3. Thread the wires through the built-in wire slot
4. Refit the switch plate
5. Restore power — the frame sits much closer to the wall with minimal exposure
6. Stick your smart remote to the front with a Command strip
