Bring a mix of science, motion, and playful design to your desk with this lollipop-inspired Newton’s cradle! This unique take on the classic kinetic desk toy combines the satisfying physics of swinging momentum with a fun, candy-themed aesthetic that instantly stands out. Inspired by the well-known “swinging balls” relaxation piece, this design demonstrates conservation of momentum in a visually engaging way. Pull back one of the lollipop heads, release it, and watch as the motion transfers cleanly through the row—causing the ball on the opposite end to swing while the center ones remain nearly still. It’s simple, mesmerizing, and surprisingly calming. What makes this version special is its creative styling. The frame is designed with a chocolate bar-inspired texture, giving it a chunky, geometric look that feels both modern and playful. The swinging elements resemble colorful lollipops, adding contrast and personality while keeping the motion smooth and balanced. The combination turns a classic physics demo into a decorative piece that fits perfectly on a desk, shelf, or workspace.

This design is also part of a personal challenge I’m doing for the year 2026: designing and releasing a brand new 3D printable model every single day for an entire year. Each design will explore a different idea—some practical, some playful, some reflective. If you enjoy following creative processes, testing new designs, or simply watching ideas turn into physical objects, feel free to follow along and join me on this 365-day journey.
