Fievel
Fievel is a little more than just a nostalgic character to me. He reminds me of one of the movies my grandfather and I loved together. This one means a bit more than simply being a favorite from animation. There is a warmth to Fievel that has stayed with me for years, not just because of his charm, but because of what he represents. Even when things seem bleak, even when the odds feel far too big, Fievel carries that spirit of never say never.
That is a big part of why I wanted to make this model. Fievel is small, scared, and often overwhelmed by the world around him, but he keeps going, nearly giving up multiple times. That quiet determination is what makes him special. The films are filled with heart, family, hope, and the idea that courage does not always look loud or larger than life. Sometimes it looks like a little mouse refusing to give up.
The original An American Tail, directed by Don Bluth and produced by Steven Spielberg, stood out for bringing real emotion to animation, weaving in themes of family separation, immigration, and the dream of a better future. For me, though, one of the most meaningful parts of Fievel’s story has always been that simple belief at the center of it all, never say never. That feeling, along with the memories tied to my grandfather, is what made this model worth bringing to life.
He is split into his basic colors for easy printing. Even his whiskers are included, however at smaller scales, they can be tricky. So you can strip the hairs off of a feather, or if you need them smaller, you can even take a single hair from a set of fake eye lashes. I can't wait to see you guys put this one together!
