David Vase Waves

Design & Concept: I designed this project to breathe new life into a timeless masterpiece by applying a "wavering" topographical effect to the entire surface. The horizontal ripples flow across David’s features like liquid, creating a sense of movement that shifts depending on how the light hits the model. The top of the bust is elegantly hollowed out, transforming this piece of art into a functional Vase or Planter. Whether used to hold dried flowers or as a standalone sculptural piece, it adds a sophisticated, contemporary edge to any desk, shelf, or creative studio.

Hardware Required: None. This is a single, fully 3D printed model.

Printing Recommendations: Material: Matte White PLA is highly recommended to achieve a traditional marble look while highlighting the wave shadows. Marble PLA or Silk Silver also work exceptionally well to emphasize the fluid texture. Layer Height: 0.16mm is ideal to ensure the horizontal waves remain smooth and well-defined. Infill: 10–15% Gyroid for structural stability. Walls: 3 Walls to ensure the hollowed section is sturdy and professional.
