Proceeds from this model go toward the purchase of a handicapped-accessible vehicle. When the going gets tough, the tough get creative.

This came to me out of necessity. Whether you're riding a motorcycle or bike, hiking or walking - anything that makes you more visible is a good thing. I was inspired to create this reflective bracelet after an encounter with a foolish cyclist who was wearing all black on a black bicycle at night with no reflective clothing and no lights or reflectors on his bicycle. I came within a millimeter of killing him because he was invisible. I'm so glad I didn't run him over, his head would've scratched my car.

This is a composite design using leather panels, a strip of reflective material, snap buttons and leather glue and PLA+ filament. I use 3M Scotchlite reflective material, but you can also use a strip of an old safety jacket, etc. A DXF file is included for laser-cutting the panels, or it can be printed and hand-cut and hole-punched.

I bonded the Tiles and Panels together on the back with small dots of cyanoacrylate (super glue - I use high viscosity). When using super glue, the panels need to be very clean and dry and only use small amounts, or you might get the dreaded cyanoacrylate creep (white residue). There are two Tile files, an Electric Shock Hazard icon and an Exclamation Mark. You can mix and match them as you like.

You will need a basic grasp of leathercrafting and stitching to complete this. It isn't a complex job - ask someone for help if you're uncertain. Anyone who knows the basics of sewing can do it easily. Line the panels up with the stitch holes and saddle stitch in place.

I applied leather-specific glue to the inside of the stitch line on all three panels and let it tack for two minutes, then carefully placed the panels together and let it sit for an hour, then saddle stitched the panels in. I started at the top left panel and stitched around. There is a ridge in the panels, this should be facing up so that the stitches are recessed and won't rub against anything and eventually break.

Best printed with PLA+ at 10% moisture with 50% triangular infill.
