The R7 Heart Worry Stone | Ergonomic "Edge-Print" Edition | R7Makers
Sometimes the best way to print an object isn't the most obvious way. I designed this Heart Worry Stone specifically to be printed on its edge. By changing the orientation, the layer lines wrap around the curves of the stone, creating a smooth, rhythmic texture that feels incredible in the hand.
🛠️ The Engineering Behind the FeelStandard flat printing often leaves "stepping" on top curves. By printing these on edge:
- Enhanced Tactile Texture: The ridges follow the natural resting position of your thumb.
- Superior Ergonomics: The thumb-well is deep and smooth, providing a perfect "anchor point" for stress relief.
- Aesthetic Detail: The nine embossed hearts on the face stay crisp and distinct without top-layer scarring.
To get the results seen in the photos, I recommend:
- Orientation: Print vertically (on edge).
- Stability: Use a brim to ensure the stones stay anchored during the height of the print.
- Resolution: 0.12mm or 0.16mm layer heights bring out the best "fidget" texture.
- Material: Silk PLAs or Matte PLAs work best to highlight the contour lines.
- Bonus Tip: Pause the printing part way through and change filament for some fancy designs.
- Individual STL: For custom scaling or single prints.
- Single 3MF: Pre-oriented for the best tactile results.
- Bulk 3MF (20-Pack): A "Production Ready" file with 20 stones lined up and ready for a long-run print—perfect for stocking your shop or gifting.
