Zinc .50 - High Powered Foam Dart Pistol - 250 FPS

Leave a like and post a make if you print! I would love to see it.

Powerful printable foam dart blaster capable of up to 250FPS. See the firing demo video here.

Technically all standard Nerf darts are ‘50 caliber’ as the darts have a diameter of half an inch, though the Zinc .50 brings the essence of 50 caliber into foam dart hand-cannon format. The Zinc .50 is a high-powered, mag fed (7-13 dart capacity) foam dart springer pistol blaster capable of up to 250 feet-per-second muzzle velocity for 205mm barrel configurations, and up to 230 FPS for 160mm barrel configurations. It has 9 possible configurations with different barrel, muzzle and handguard variants. Scroll down for more information and a demo video ⬇

Everything You Need To Build Your Own

  • Purchase a hardware kit. Hardware Kits can be found here. Affordable international shipping available, fast and tracked! Please understand: past hardware kit sales enabled me to develop this design, and present ones support me in developing upcoming designs. They include several custom-machined parts required for this blaster's high performance, not just off-the-shelf parts. They are priced for an order frequency that I can keep fast dispatch times up with while also remaining competitive with similar kits in the foam dart hobby space.
  • Download the print files from this model listing.
  • Download the print and assembly guide here.
  • Buy some half-length darts if you don't already own any, here are some links: US - Frontline Foam, OutOfDarts, EU - Blaster Time, AU - Blaster Tech
  • Although the files include some printable tools to make assembly easier, you will also need some basic common tools for assembly, see the assembly guide linked above. Lubricant is included in the hardware kit.

Warning Note This blaster has a large spring with a somewhat heavy prime weight. Said spring may present danger if the blaster is not assembled, used, or cared for correctly. This is your responsibility. Information on correct assembly, use and care is provided in the assembly guide linked below. If you are looking for a blaster with a lighter prime and less powerful spring: check out the more compact Znc Aus.

IMPORTANT NOTE - PRINT IN BRIGHT COLOURS Due to it's design this blaster must be printed in bright colours and with an orange so it can not be mistaken for a real firearm.

Variants A bearing scar (BCAR) uses rings of flanged bearings with each at a slight angle to impart spin on the dart as it exits the barrel, vastly increasing accuracy with little effect on fps. The Zinc .50 has 9 total configurations (see 3rd image) with varying BCAR and handguard combinations. The hardware kit can make any configuration, just choose your desired barrel length (all hardware kits come with 9x BCAR pins and bearings):

-3 have a 160mm barrel with a compact front (no BCAR) -No handguard -Handguard top only -Full handguard

-3 have a 160mm barrel with a 9 bearing BCAR -No handguard -Handguard top only -Full handguard

-3 have a 205mm barrel with a 9 bearing BCAR -No handguard -Handguard top only -Full handguard

Additions and Changes The Zinc .50 is based on the Ziiiinc by Misplaced Moose, and is modified and sold with his permission, though it includes many changes and upgrades including a slightly larger diameter plunger tube, a longer barrel, many customisable part options allowing for many different configurations, revised hardware, and modified/remodeled part designs and tolerances in the interest of performance, ease of assembly, and aesthetics. Hardware changes include a tighter-toleranced aluminum plunger tube over the original polycarbonate one, refined closed-end springs for all springs to fix issues of the original Zinc such as the stiff catch and weak mag release, double O-rings on all seals, lubricant oil included, tapping screws replacing machine screws with nuts (caused part splitting or the nuts would turn in place, making removal impossible), and more. See images for further details.

Assembly Assembly is relatively straightforward. The assembly guide is detailed and includes troubleshooting steps for common issues. Unlike the original Zinc 2.0, no excessive sanding is required to get parts to fit and function. A dimensionally accurate printer such as a Prusa or Bambu model is recommended for easy assembly. See the print guide for printing tips.

Care and Safety Print in bright colours and use in responsible locations/settings. Do not leave the blaster outside under sunlight or in a car that may get hot when not in use. Do not leave the blaster primed when not in use as this will fatigue the main spring and other parts. Use responsibly. Do not aim at eyes or face. Eye protection for skirmishing is essential. Not recommended for use by young children.

Note Like the Ziiiinc, the Zinc .50 is an unofficial descendant of the Zinc 2.0 blaster by 118 Design.
