Low Poly Plant - Elephant Ear
Ready to print 3mf file is included. You will only need to print one of the leaf plates. Check out my video for assembly instructions. The leaves are reversible, so if you'd prefer to have the top face visible instead of the bottom face, I'd recommend enabling ironing.
No infill or supports required.
The unfurled leaf now has a twist lock mechanism. Twist it to the right as far as you can to lock in place. I've also made the stems thicker, so you may need to bend them a bit with your fingers to get the proper look.
Filament Used:
Polymaker PLA Jungle Green Polymaker PLA PRO Pink Polymaker PLA PRO Army Beige Generic White PLA I also recommend printing my scraper if you have a Bambu Lab printer as getting the thin leaves off the build plate can be a bit tricky: https://thangs.com/designer/Kit%20of%20Plants/3d-model/Bed%20Scraper%20for%20Thin%2FFlexible%20Prints%20%28Bambu%20Lab%29-1409291

Thank you! I'm working on some improvements for the next model, so hopefully they become more reliable.
The others looking more cohesive leads me to believe there's a low spot on the build plate or it needs to be releveled. If you've already ruled that out, try increasing the flow ratio in the filament settings https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/x1/manual/manual-flow-rate-tuning. Reducing the initial layer and top surface width may also help. I think you can go as low as 0.2mm on a 0.4mm nozzle. Not sure if there's a way to eliminate the gaps completely, but I hope that helps!
Looks like my leaves are not connecting, is there a way to make them not a pile of pieces? My layer height is 0.2 so it shouldn't be that
Hi there, sorry to hear they're not connecting. Try selecting all the "Leaf Frame" models on the "Stems" build plate and go to the Objects settings next to Process. There you can set the elephant foot compensation value to 0 under the Quality tab. Try printing a single leaf frame with those settings, and adjust the elephant foot compensation value based on your findings.
Great models! Love what you are creating! I have one question- I have had no problem downloading your other files, but this Elephant Ear - for the life of me I cannot get it to download. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much! That is odd, sorry you're having that issue. I'm a bit new to Thangs, so unfortunately I'm not super familiar with all of their protocols. I've tested the download on a separate machine and it seems to be working fine. I would guess there may be a network issue on your end, or it doesn't like the larger file size? If you can't get it to work, you can try downloading it from Printables as well: https://www.printables.com/model/1402658-low-poly-plant-elephant-ear
