The Clayton Equipment CB40 is a 40 tonne battery-powered 0-4-0 shunting locomotive recharged from 3-phase supplies using on-board chargers. The Clayton CB40 is capable of moving up to 3,000 tonnes, having a range of up to 450km unladen and 16km with 1,200 tonnes. Remote control and CCTV are standard features.

The first CB40 was delivered to the Sellafield UK nuclear reprocessing plant in May 2024.

This body-shell is designed to fit the Kato 11-109 chassis and is a snug fit, so some careful filing might be required to sit it properly on the chassis.

Remove the outer dome of the motor cover from above the Kato ladders as shown in the chassis photograph above..

The Kato motor housing wants to 'peep' through the bodyshell in the cab door area. Either carve away some of the motor housing in that area or push out the thin panels marked YELLOW in the green drawing of the bodyshell.

Buffer beams, footsteps and handrails are are printed within the bodyshell and can be carefully snapped away with tweezers.

Adding additional weight to this model will greatly improve its traction. Instructions for DCC enabling the Kato 11-109 are available from Tramfabriek.nl
